I find it funny how later on in Jim's life he moves on to DC where he draws Batman and some of the Justice League. That totally looks likes Superman.

Jim Lee was and is a phenomenal artist but at this time he was leaps and bounds ahead of everyone in his ability to draw cool shit lol

dextergarner1286 Yupyup, those of us who grew up then knew Jim Lee was The Man. He brought XMen back to life and made them what they are, and how they are today, I mean the 90s cartoon XMen was based off his interpretation of them. Idk from current Jim Lee work, I can only handle so much batman/ superman in my life, ya know

@@rockon8174 EVERY Artist has to reference all the time for super complex things. It's just when you start out, you HAVE to reference alot and then you gradually reference less and less when you build up your visually memory completely; but you still reference but just do it not as much.

Pretty wild hearing Jim talking about having to draw things from memory. It’s easy to forget there was a world where many things lacked reference material and had to be drawn from memory

I feel like while Rob Liefield, Todd MacFarlane and other artists of the time were trying to make just cool art for kids, Jim Lee just wanted to be professional. He was obviously the best.

LOL What? MOST of the artists who work in the industry ARE great because they ALL GET comics completely. It's just that Jim Lee is one of a kind and he's PHENOMENAL at what he does by trying rising the medium completely of what comics can be other than the rest, that's the thing and he does it beautifully with his gorgeous artwork! Truly a master at work!

People watching and trying to draw what you see is the quickest way to learn comic book art. If you can draw a room filled with people, you can draw a comic book.
