Another really well-pitched performance, suffused with optimism and hope, whilst pulling no punches on the dire situation.

I would like to add to Rupert's assertion that unity of purpose is essential, maybe even for our survival as a species. The old order of separatist thinking must end with a conscious awakening and understanding that we are all an integral part of the one life and love not fear needs to be our motivating force.

Civilisational collapse is always inevitable. Our human story tells us this. That collapse due to climate change? Sure - guaranteed - always has been. So, what we are dealing with, quite obviously, is preventing an own goal. That's it in a nutshell. Our planet in our solar system will do it to us anyway. The only difference is the advance warning to adapt - "you have 1000 years to prepare, it'll happen slowly" Now we're in this space where "you have 20 years to prepare, it's happening now, it's happening fast." I'm quite ambivalent about it now, to be honest. Been through all the stages of realisation, despair, anger and acceptance. It's just nature - we are nature - so it's a natural process. I'm cool with that. I no longer care. I don't believe we'll pull ourselves out of this mess - I firmly believe the die is already cast. How can I not care? Because I can do nothing about it, so I accept the fact that just as I can't prevent an asteroid smashing into the Atlantic Ocean, I cannot stop humanity heating the planet. There's evil on this planet - and it isn't going to go away. Ying/Yang. Have I given up? No. I'm just a realist. I see nobody in my neighbourhood even really aware or caring. As Rupert says, adaptation is sadly our only course of action. It is going to be remarkably painful. Everything those of us lucky enough to enjoy is going to change. We had a tiny glimpse of a kind of social calamity during the Covid pandemic. What is coming makes that glimpse pale by comparison. There is no potential vaccine for it. Or at least none in the time scale that we saw during the pandemic as the vaccines were speedily developed. The first impact is food shortages. Failed harvests year on year, globally, until the grain stores are empty. The farmers unable to adapt quickly enough - there's just no time. The climate has changed and the weather becomes so unpredictable it becomes nearly impossible to get a good yield. Food shortages impact everything in our society. They are a potential civilisation collapse event. The adaptation would have to include a very rapid response to attempt to grow our food in different ways, a race to find either crops that can withstand extreme weather events or to grow crops at scale in greenhouses.

I'd say I look forward to the demise of this current MO. This way of living, this form of civilization. I hope that as many people as possible are able to transition to earthly living once again before the shit hits the fan. Working on it myself.
