So refreshing, - no gratuitous violence,sex , profanities, very enjoyable and so nice that there are still good clean reading around, and that a book does not have to have all the "dark" things in life in it to be a great story

Your books are truly sweet, engaging and enlightening, while your characters are multifaceted and deeper than many in this genre. The stories are always interesting with unexpected twists and a glimpse into history. Across the board, you are one of my favorite authors. Even the drama and disagreements are handled without language becoming crude. My imagination on the next step is far better than the gratuitously explicit sex found in many novels. Thank you very much for sharing your talent with me and others!

This story of Jack and Phillippa is wonderful. I am horrified at the over reach of Mariah and cheered when Lucius came to her rescue. I was a bit concerned how far Thackery would go in pressuring her. Seeing Lucius burping his baby is such a beautiful image and shows how much he has changed. I like how Phillippa leads Susan in growth and Matthew is a champion. It is nice to see a character like Mrs Blythefield and a glimpse into the Methodist reforms. I like her, even when she is too kind hearted and a bit unwise. Thank you for the education about the ‘corn laws’. It was such a huge issue in that era. Stevie your voiceover is excellent as usual. I like the way Jack proposes.

I’ve begun quite backwards loving “Book Three” 1st! These characters must continue, all the happiness’s serve so many possibilities or shall I say “hold sheer joy” as Philli-pa would say to Jack, Lucius & Salena. Oh! Susan & Matthew must show theirs as well w/ the incredible family.

So far and away my favorite book of hers. Unlike the others I've read or listened to, it wasn't that same formulaic kind of Regency romance that gets really old by the time you've read or listened to eight of them. Within the first 10 pages or minutes you know exactly which two characters are going to end up with each other, and there is a repetitive and wearying amount will-he-won't-he or she, accompanied by endless self-talk, self-doubt and protestations. This book was nothing like that, which made it really enjoyable. Now the trick is to try to figure out which of the author's other books are less like the former and more like the latter.

I just want to say I messed up and listened to the #3 book first, then #1, followed by this #2. I have to say I believe you can listen to these in any order. Just like a movie flips back and forth between time. I wasn't lost at all. It was interesting having the knowledge of Goerges ending from the start. Well done. Are there more books in this series?
@JennieGoutet Жыл бұрын
I'm glad you feel that way. It's true they are stand-alone books so can be read in any order. It's nice to read in order when possible. When you get to the Memorable Proposals series, the order is A Regrettable Proposal, A Faithful Proposal, and A Daring Proposal, if this helps.

New Sub... loving what I'm hearing so far. What reading order would you suggest, or do we just go along in upload order?
@JennieGoutet8 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for listening. So, some of the books don't need an order because they are stand-alone: A Yorkshire Carol (Christmas) His Disinclined Bride An Amiable Foe And (upcoming on May 15th) A Sham Betrothal. This one is different. Set in 1774 in Paris. Otherwise, here is the order by the series: Clavering Chronicles: A Fall from Grace Philippa Holds Court The Sport of Matchmaking Memorable Proposals: A Regrettable Proposal A Faithful Proposal A Daring Proposal Daughters of the Gentry: A Whimsical Notion A Stroke of Good Fortune (coming this fall) A Presumptuous Hope And I hope that helps!

Cannot understand why Jack does not withold money from his father so that he cannot waste any more.
@JennieGoutet4 ай бұрын
Jack was in a difficult situation because he legally had no control over his father's fortune. And he wasn't even the eldest son so he wasn't set to inherit. He was just the only one with sense and ambition, which made this powerlessness difficult for him.

I am not against having ads on a video but i wonder why does this particular audiobook has a million ads on it?
@JennieGoutet8 ай бұрын
If it has more than my usual audiobooks then it's something KZbin did and not me. As you probably already know, it wouldn't be worth it to have my audiobooks up on KZbin for free if there were no ads. I would otherwise have them only on paid platforms and libraries.
