I saw a tip on another channel that was really helpful. When starting as Japan, you say you should do atmospheric engine after researching lathe. However, you could research atmospheric engine to about 10k research points, but not finish it as u need 11500. Then you can switch to lathe and as soon as you finish lathe the penalty for atmospheric engine is removed. This is useful because this way you ensure that your technology spread is used on lathe and not on some tier 2 tech that doesnt have high priority, because the lower tier techs always get spread first.

On the torpedo boats- they were earlier tech than destroyers. The old name for destroyers was "torpedo boat destroyers." The torpedo boats were designed as a cheap, easy to produce, fast-moving way to counter battleships/cruisers/dreadnaughts, allowing smaller nations to hit way above their weight class without breaking their banks. Torpedo boat destroyers were produced as a response, being slightly larger than the torpedo boats and armed with lighter weapons able to destroy torpedo boats, but not able to do much to heavily armored ships. People started just referring to them as "destroyers" because it's a lot easier to say than "torpedo boat destroyers." Eventually torpedo tubes began to be installed on torpedo boat destroyers so they could help with both screening and fighting against capital ships, shifting their role to both that of the torpedo boat and the torpedo boat destroyers. I guess submarines have taken the direct role of torpedo boats- hard to hit smaller craft able to hit way above their tonnage, but they are definitely not a cheap option these days.

One small note I noticed in my run at 10:10 , when I first looked at Professional Army at game start, it only had about 15% support, the Shogunate didn't support it because their leader was a Traditionalist. When I started a new game as Japan, the interest group leader was rolled as a Jingoist, which gave Professional Army the support from Shogunate to the roughly 70% Ludi had
@pvtcaboose13Ай бұрын
In addition to different leader traits, the AI nations can behave very different too. I had a game collapse very early when Britain went full villain arc and just started declaring wars. Including coming for my capital state with over 500 units before i even got to steel mills. Sometimes you just have to re-roll.
@geefgeefgeefgeefАй бұрын
This also matters when firing the IG leader (like Ludi did to get a reformer leading the landowners). Can't fire a traditionalist IG leader if your ruler is a traditionalist too.

@mechano65052 ай бұрын
One thing that you *can* do is try and vertically integrate in the early game until you run out of infrastructure in each state, starting from lower pop states. Getting each state up to taxation capacity and avoiding the horrible market access debuffs from traditionalism using a state like say chugoku with less population allows you to get your early economy going with the pops there taxed. Even if a building is more "profitable" elsewhere, the lack of taxation capacity means that 20-50% in taxation is being effectively deleted anyways instead of being used to fund more construction.

Thank you Ludi! I played for Japan 10 times and could not overcome the GDP above 50 million and construction sectors more than 25 for a couple of years. In this video, I learned about the game through more than 750 hours of play. About Prussia. I often had to reset a failed campaign for Japan and I saw Prussia unite Germany many times. I also wanted to say that I always managed to get the status of a recognized power for Japan in this patch until 1860. To do this, you need the vassalization of South America and one war for the collapse of Brazil into smaller states and positive relations with the United States. And for this, you had to build a fleet from the very beginning of the company, sacrificing economic development. But for me, as an inexperienced player, it is difficult to appreciate the importance of the status of a recognized power. Especially after your video. As I understand it, this status is not important in the early stages of the company. Also in my games England drops 2-5th place in the rankings over 15 years if you capture one British region - the Midlands. This resulted in England losing control over the production of war materials and plunging into endless revolutions. Same with France if you win the war of independence of Aquitaine.

So I learned something new even with having played this game for near 500 hours.

I think it would be important to have noted that people wouldn't experience the same experience with policies due to the rng of leaders, its such a big (and annoying) thing of Victoria 3 that people need made aware of because they're going to wonder why you got 70% support for something while when they do it is 15%

So it will be easier to play around revolutions in the earlygame to push some laws because all of your army and most of your economy and construction will be in Kanto.

With certain countries you can get him right at the start of the game.
