Okay, I'm extremely late to the game for this to apply to me but I'm pretty sure that the experience of thinking "Who the hell is Chuuya" is an essential piece of the Bungou Stray Dogs experience, because at the end of the volumes of the manga, there are little profiles for each of the characters and Volume 2 has Dazai's which lists his dislikes as "Dogs and Chuuya Nakahara", even though Chuuya's first appearance isn't until Volume 3. Sidenote: Chuuya's own profile is at the end of Volume 6, and his only dislike is Osamu Dazai.

For anyone wondering the same thing as Danny at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="67">1:07</a>:40 , while Danny didn't react to the explanation of this part, the sub explains it a bit better anyway. When Dazai is talking about the letter and saying 'I predict you won't kill me, you'll tell me where the info is, etc' he also says this: 'And when you leave this room, you'll walk and talk like a little rich girl. You know my predictions always come true, after all' So when Dazai says "you know you're forgetting something, Chuuya~" he's referring to the last part of his prediction that Chuuya didn't fulfill just yet. Dazai basically blackmailed Chuuya into it by promising to erase any indication that Chuuya helped him escape. ALSO Dazai DID laugh at Chuuya in the manga at that scene

It's just one of those shows that doesn't really have a plot till chapter 537124642781684 but even then, the plot is just kinda being ignored and so it's just kinda there. AND IT'S INCREDIBLY GOOD AT JUST BEING THERE!!! Same thing wich Black Butler, it has no real plot (well, atleast a plot of wich we don't know of) till volume 13 (chapter 63 or smt idk) but even then, I don't really see the plot activly being a part of the whole story (like they don't activly look for the guys that killed Ciels parents) BUT IT'S STILL VERY GOOD AT EVERYTHING ELSE!!! a lot of small details about the characters quirks and stuff can be found looking into the authors and their works. heavy trigger warning for a few of the works though. fun facts i think are somewhat relevant: •dazai osamu in his book “no longer human” classified himself as a clown often making jokes and quips at his own expense. i think thats the main reason he is so ridiculous in the anime. •dazai constantly discussed the ideal kind of woman with other authors. if anyone is wondering, he liked glasses and brunettes preferably shorter than him. •chuuya nakahara was actually a lot shorter in reality. like 153 cm. the anime actually made him taller. •one of tanazaki most well-known works is about a man obsessed with a young schoolgirl named naomi that he grooms into being his ideal type of woman, western and confident, only to be overwhelmed by her later. •a lot of the characters are reversed idol wise. by that i mean, in reality dazai osamu was obsessed with akutagawa, edogawa ranpo with edgar allan poe (hence his pseudonym), and chuuya with arthur rimbaud. opposite of the anime.

I know it doesn't excuse it but the reason Atsushi didn't do much during the Azure messenger arc is because it was actually a light novel he wasn't in. The novel actually takes place before Atsushi joins the agency and is about how Dazai joined the ADA (which also means that nobody knows how anime Dazai joined up with them either???)

*A bit of info on Mori Ougai (Port Mafia Boss):* He’s probably not a p3do (I know that’s a super controversial opinion but I honestly don’t really care) the book, Vita Sexualis, that his ability is named after is based around a guy, Shizuka Kanai, who is very asexual. The book as a whole is very much about criticising how overly sexualised society is and how much sexual content children as young as 7 are exposed to. So, in general it doesn’t make sense for him to be a p3do, if he were his ability would’ve been named Maihime (The Dancing Girl), the book where Elise gets her name and some of her looks (blonde hair and blue eyes) from as, in Maihime, the main character actually has a romantic relationship with a girl named Elise.

@@Everybode Not everything is flipped. The *relationships* are generally *reversed,* but most things aren’t flipped. Like, take Dazai for example, his relationship with Chuuya is flipped, (irl, while they did both hate each other, Chuuya generally took the role of tormentor - unlike in BSD, where Dazai is usually tormenting Chuuya) but a lot of his personality still remains the same - his unusual fixation on su1c1d3, his general feeling of being “inhuman”, his jokester façade, etc, etc. Either way, I know I’m not going to actually change your mind, so I’m just going to agree to disagree and we can both go on with our lives.
