As a kid who grew up in that era, AI was the most influential but more importantly, inspirational player of all time in my opinion. You can mention the cornrows, the fashion, the jewelry, the tattoos, and all that other stuff but what he really did is he made average sized kids feel like “maybe I really could play college ball or even go pro if I just work hard enough.” And I know from experience that just that thought is what kept me at the courts until lights cut out on a lot of nights. Forever a favorite and a hero to me personally.

I was a kid and a Sixers fan. Dr. J, was my first favorite player. Moses Malone came in, and was a beast. Charles Barkley just continued that beast mentality. When Allen Iverson came along, and was stunning to watch. Once Iverson left I never followed Philly they were never the same.

Being on a mediocre team like Sixers was the best thing for A.I...I couldn't see the same if he played on any other team...Even when he played for the Nuggets, it wasn't the same hunger. Just Philadelphia as a city alone with his style and game of basketball went together very well. Philly treated him like a GOD and that motivated him.

Thanks for producing this video. It brought back some really great memories. Like it's been stated many times before, the thing that I really loved about AI is he was absolutely fearless. It didn't matter who he faced, it didn't matter the odds, it didn't matter how injured he was, Allen Iverson wouldn't stop fighting, he wouldn't stop attacking. The fact that he had a tremendous amount of talent and speed just made him even more dangerous. For the people reading this, do you remember Rocky 2? Remember when Apollo's trainer was talking to Apollo about cancelling the rematch? He said " I saw you beat that man like I've never seen a man get beat before. But he just kept coming after you. We don't need a man like that in our lives." more or less. That's Allen Iverson. Of all the NBA players I've grown to love and respect, Bill Russell (Who is the GOAT by the way, 11 chips with an additional two as a coach, it's Bill Russel and then everyone else, fight me), Hakeem Olajuwan, Shawn Kemp, Karl Malone, Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Julius Erving, Steph Curry, Kyrie Erving, Tim Duncan and others, If I'm going to war, especially a war when the odds are not in our favor, Allen Iverson would be my first choice. He's the only player I would never want to see retire because when he was on the court, amazing things always happened.

That Rocky comparison is 100% accurate of who he was as a player. Never discouraged, perpetually relentless despite circumstances or outcomes.
