The marriage proposal was honestly the smoothest proposals. Seeing a proposal in the pokemon world and done through a pokeball was a really nice touch. Probably the best proposals done in any anime (Though it hardly happens)

I have cried exactly twice before with Pokemon. Just, in general, between all of the media. This season, specifically the episode with the Litten and Stoutland, made me sob. They didn't pull the punch. Boy was that so emotional.

Epsiodes like this is probably why I liked generations and why I am hoping for the success of the new series. I like Ash, but I think with how unique the world of Pokemon is you can tell these emotionally compelling one offs and still get your main point across about the general themes in Pokemon without a continuous protagonist.

The XY series may be my favourite series, but SM, despite the drastic artistic changes which took a while to get used to, holds a special place in my heart with how relatable a lot of the plot points were. I’ve never cried so much going through a Pokémon anime, especially with how the series deals with death and acceptance revolving around Mao and Litten, and the amazing familial bond the characters share with each other. The last 3 series definitely did everything right to close Ash’s story on a high note

I agree. I cried the most during this season. Litten and Stoutland, Mallow and her mother, Poipole, the Minior shower and Ash's goodbye with Kukui and his wife. The pacing was freneting, the comedy was through the roof and Ash finally finds a true family and a father figure. Great creativity during battles as well.

SM is VERY different, but honestly that's what gives it its charm. It embraces being something fresh and new more than any of the "modern" series (by that I mean BW-current) and you can tell it had a ton of passion put behind it. It's actually right behind DP as my favorite Pokemon series.

I adore the Sun & Moon anime. As someone who felt a major theme of SuMo was a celebration of life, I feel like the anime did a great job of depicting that through its stories. And the animation style for it was ideal for the series. The looser style allows for a lot more wilder expressions and movements.

Sun & Moon's direction is amazing. It keeps major themes that have been built up since gen 1 and Ash interacts with the region and customs way more, making it feel like he truly fits in rather than just getting to the next competition. Even though it feels like a soft reset on Pokemon as an anime, It doesnt feel like a reset where Ash regresses either in battle or emotionally. Even though Journey's is the end for Ash, i think SM completes the character.

I'm glad they took a more slice of life route for Sun and Moon. It made Alola feel much more like a second home for Ash compared to previous regions where he was constantly moving from place to place. I think that's important since it would be the region that he became Champion of, and you really get a sense of just how much it all means to Ash in Journeys when the whole region cheers him on as their Champion.

This is actually, by far, one of my favorite series in the anime. The setting, the art style, and the plot is all well done and I love that Ash grows as a person and finds a new home in Alola. His league win feels definitely earned

Definitely one of the more underrated series in the Pokémon anime. It was the first time Ash won the tournament league too. A big step up from previous series. Having Misty and Brock come back briefly for a few episodes was so satisfying I thought.

Ash’s age is such a weird thing. He’s the same age as all the kids in the alolan school. Then when they visit Kanto, he says “oh yeah, I caught all these Pokémon back in the day. Oh yeah I won all 8 badges back in the day”. What, when he was 5??

I remember the hate this season of pokemon back then because of the "downgrade" it took visually opting for a more goofy artstyle and toned done episodes. But I kinda like this season, it brought back some of the joys from thw original season where it has weird and random antics that are dumb yet it leavea a smile at your face for the entire episode.

I feel like this series gets hate for no reason. While I can understand people not liking the Slice of Life genre and the art style change, I think this series is great with its story, themes and development of its character (at least for most of them). I also like how we get to see characters in more than just one episode.

I'm glad Ash won here because all of his Pokemon were treated equally while in XY he felt like one of those trainers that overlevels his starter and doesn't try as hard with the rest of the team. Plus it wouldn't have been as emotional in XY because that series felt super detached from everything else. No past events were referenced, no old friends came to visit, and not even his mother showed up to watch the league.

This is the show arc that got me back to Pokemon and the anime series since Johto arc. Its really good. Also Team Rocket are the funniest they ever where in this one, and I loved every moment with them, easily the best and longest remaining of Ash´s companions.

I love how this one was delightfully goofy but also dealt with serious topics. It took a while to get used to the art style but props for trying something new! It also made pokemon that I simply couldn't can't seriously in the game (like Allolan Persian), a little more tolerable.

Alright, I have rewatched the entire playlist 7 times if you include the first time I watched the first episode. I can honestly say I still pick up on something new every time I rewatch. Thank you for doing this series. It has always been a dream of mine to watch every episode and movie in chronological order, but what an absolute beast of a challenge. This has allowed me to feel like I have acheived that goal and any time I want to get that hit of dopomine Ill be able to use this series for it. I stopped watching the anime around Diamond and Pearl (when the voice actors changed and it honestly threw me for a loop about it. Plus growing up and falling out of loving Pokemon consistently) and then I stopped playing the games around that time too until X and Y came out. I really loved the Sun and Moon games and while I was hesitant to go back to the anime after not watching anything from it for years, I absolutely loved the Sun and Moon anime arcs! I binged all three seasons with my partner throughout a few weeks and we were both having the time of our lives with it. Thank you as always for covering this!!

There is a poetic side to Ash overcoming Neverending Nightmare. The shadow hands would visually represent all these years of being dragged down no matter his efforts ; as Pikachu rushes through them, he manages to land on his target like Ash winning the title.

Sun & Moon is the best Pokémon anime to me. It’s very emotionally rich, all the characters get arcs and even the Pokémon are well developed. I personal favorite episode is when Ash and Pikachu get sent back in time and meet a young Kukui, who actually remembers meeting Ash as a kid. Everything with Lillie, Gladieon and Lusamine was sad as hell. Kiawe was a solid rival, Sophocles and Lana were good comic relief and Mallow was a great platonic relationship for Ash. Kukui and Burnett were great surrogate parents for Ash. I really liked Team Rocket in this series too, especially whenever Bewear showed up lol. The League was really good. Ash vs Kukui is still my favorite battle in the white anime after Ash vs Paul at Lake Acuity.

Jordan's enthusiasm is definitrly reigniting my long-dormant love for pokemon. I thought the new mega-evolution/Z-move/giganticizing things were a huge stretch, and the focus on them just felt like 'too much too fast' for me. Plus, I just completely stopped watching TV. Having these as a sort of companion, like reconnecting with a friend over a holiday and learning about all the cool stuff you missed, makes me want to pick up a copy of Sun for the first time. Hope you've been well, Jordan! Kid-me is beyond jealous that you have such a successful channel and you get to spend 2+ hours talking about pokemon.

sun & moon is genuinely my favorite pokemon series. it was the first one i've ever watched and maybe xy(&z) and journeys may be better, but sun & moon just has that something. it's a celebration of life and living and remembering to stop and breathe, sometimes. i love it.

I've been watching the Pokémon anime for over 20 years at this point, and Sun and Moon is by far my favourite season. It helped that I already really liked Alola, I've always liked Hawaii and seeing a Pokémon take on it is something I enjoy. A really big part tho of why I like Alola so much is how much it focuses on the connections of people and Pokémon, which I feel like is shown to be deeper in Alola verses other regions. Speaking of connections, I like the sense of community this season gives, with the anime having one main location, there's a bunch of reoccurring characters, to me Alola really feels lived in, especially now with Ash seeing the region as a second home, even to the point where he sees Kukui and Burnet as parental figures. On the same point, I liked seeing Ash interact with more parental figures for once, despite saving the world so many times, he is obviously a kid who does dumb kid stuff, who needs guidance now and again, Alola has such a (metaphorical) warmth to it that just makes me so happy. The slice of life nature of the season is also something I like, I understand that Pokémon is a fantasy world so seeing the more mundane elements of it can be seen as boring to some, but for me, a person who's been autisticly obsessed with this series pretty much their entire life, I love seeing the more day to day stuff, I always enjoy it when we see people and Pokémon doing again the more mundane parts of life, just living together because it makes the world feel so much more real to me, and back to what I was saying about this being a fantasy world, I feel at the point of Sun and Moon coming out, we'd already seen so much of the fantastical aspects of the Pokémon world that taking a step back for the most part is nice. I personally also like the more comedic aspect of the season, like described in the video, Ash has been through a lot leading up to Sun and Moon, so this season being a lot chiller/ goofier feels like a nice break for him. Finally as for the animation style, I've never had an issue with it, the animation in this season is great. I remember watching a video going over people's responses to the Sun and Moon anime reveal, where fans were pissed at how different it looked, while animators loved the new animation and tech behind it. Sun and Moon is very much a kind of comfort series to me, if things are going south for me, I can always rely on the wonderfully warm vibes of this season to help chill me out and put a smile on my face, and while I understand it isn't for everyone, it is something that when all put together is very much something for me, from my #1 favourite franchise. I understand this has basically just me gushing about the series, with no actual critiques, but I couldn't think of anything major off the top of my head.

I really enjoyed SM. It was a neat change of pace and despite not being as action-packed or serious as XY (which I also really liked,) it was still a neat way to see his journey with both a different spin and a sense of familiarity. It also had some pretty memorable moments that made me cry, like the death of Stoutland and Mallow seeing her mom again. I'm also glad that, after how close he was to becoming champion in Kalos, we got to see Ash not only become a Champion of a Pokemon League but become the *first* Champion of the Alola region. Great video once again! The end is in sight.

Even though it doesn't do some things as well as XY did, the S&M anime corrects all of XY's shortcomings with more Pikachu spotlight, strong meaningful world-building that connects Ash to the setting, and a wonderfully developed cast. It just makes more sense for Ash to be champion in a region he becomes so entwined with, (including being the reason it exists but I don't like time travel generally so I'll ignore that) A huge one-two of the anime that redeems it so much as it closes in on its end.

Sun and Moon was the series that bring me back to the Pokemon! I stopped watching the series after Johto, because I simply grew out of it (back then). This season was so cute and even the smaller, advrnture of the day episodes held my attention greatly. But i do feel like the writers learned to bslance slice of life eith adventure and used that to great effect in "Journeys"
