Here is the new simplified version of the spreadsheet made for Season 8, it is easier to use and much less archaic compared to the complete one because it calculates you best attributes for you. Great work. This must have been a pain in the ass to collect, given how Booming has still not given us a practice room with adjustable settings to easily and quickly test things out.
@AlanApogee3 жыл бұрын
It was easier to test than what you expect. In the training room (not unit training) There are indestructible dummies to use as target practice. They have roughly 500 armor (can't remember off my head) so its a good baseline to test all weapon skills on. Further tests are done on the sargent, he was a pain to deal with due to his block. And any skills locked behind mastery points was checked by Knightstaker and me in the open.

I made one spreadsheet for the same, and I have tried to use the damage formula to calculate the damage to units and heroes, but without those damage multipliers they would not come out, I hope I can finish it with the help of this video. Good Job

Great video. Might be worth adding a disclaimer though, that this calculator was created from data gathered from Frontier servers. This is because MyGames version of the games seems to be quite different in terms of balance compared to Frontier.
@skipdog873 жыл бұрын
Can confirm I came to similar results on MyGames about half a year ago. I'm not sold on the idea of a flat dmg% mod per weapon though. I remember dealing minimum damage (5%) with a longsword auto attack but the weapon skills were dealing much more than they should've. I believe skills tend to have hidden pen mods. Also I could be wrong about this but I recall each auto attack in a weapon's rotation had a different %dmg mod.
@AlanApogee3 жыл бұрын
I did not test any basic attacks because each weapon has their own hidden modifiers for that. As for skills, at least for the longsword, all the skills can be predicted with a 5% error margin. The data I collected for other weapons is not as complete as I want, but only one weapon skill has shown to significantly deviate from the formula. Specificly, the muskets melee skill using blunt having 20% more damage than expected.

I used evo loz gaming data and it does not show a remarkable difference. If someone provides evidence that it does I will pin a disclaimer later on

Excellent guide as always Alan! I also would like to ask you about heavy armor. Which one do you think is better between froststeel/link guardsman(which give you 60 defence and reduce damage by 8%) and regular guardsman(which give you 120 defence and 5% hp)?
@AlanApogee3 жыл бұрын
The 120 one most of the time. A, because it's easier to get. B, the 60 def difference is more than 10% more when you get more than 1000 armor. The down side is that too much armor makes you weak to armor penetration and some armor lowering skills. Unless you play TW, which demands higher health, the 8% damage reduction is then better

I main a defensive-leaning Nodachi, but regularly enjoy swapping to different weapons (shortbow, longsword, pike, for now). What would be a solid recommendation for a general stat layout that won't punish me toooo badly switching around with Nodachi as a primary in mind? This is all so helpful but it's also so frustrating, thanks!

I would say 25/25/50 Str/agl/hp, the best general build

Hard to say, but a general rule of thumb atk = pen until pen > 1800

I only want to know one thing : armor pen vs flat dmg, what's better overall ?
@AlanApogee3 жыл бұрын
Against high armor pen, against low armor damage. Because most heroes and T4 units have high armor, you should aim for pen first then damage. But then again, there's weapon mods that make this much more convaluted.

Is it right that with spear you are better off in taking damage atributes b3cause when you use your skills you can actually boost your armor pen up to 20% that means if you have 1800 AP then you have with 10 stacks of this skill 2160 AP for 10 seconds (as you said for weapons w/ over 200AP its better to take DMG attributes) and if you attack smth in this period of time it would be better for taking Damage attributes. Im I right?
@AlanApogee2 жыл бұрын
Yes you are. Unless your fighting say Iron reapers and other T5 heavy armor units, against heroes then yes damage is the way to go then
@hungha43293 жыл бұрын
How many pen you need when you deal with tier 4 unit like spear it about 1500 pen or just need for 1000 pen if your flat dame is about 1400
@AlanApogee3 жыл бұрын
For the specifics, you'll need to go check the spreadsheet. But for a general rule for spear piecing damage, Pen and Damage should be similar until Pen gets to 2000+, then you go full damage.

While interesting I find that stats are overall irrelevant. MOST abilities do not benefit that much from the stats, making even large stat discrepancies to result in minor damage differences. So at this point I stopped caring about the stats and just put half on strength and half on agility.
@AlanApogee3 жыл бұрын
All abilities have damage multipliers but some weapons benefit more from attributes than others like glaives and muskets. But if your going full damage, there is indeed little difference going one stat to another (just how much damage you deal between high and low armor units). This cannot be said about defense though, armor could provide a 20% difference from toughness.
@siveonfarcloud41903 жыл бұрын
I've noticed that in this game, it's more important to support your unit than the other way around. This is usually in form of CC, which is ridiculously unchecked in this game: all hits stagger and no diminishing returns. So might try to go full toughness since I use light armor most of the time.
@AlanApogee3 жыл бұрын
@@siveonfarcloud4190 Agreed. CC is fundamental yet unbalanced to the point some weapons are not allowed in TW due to the lack of CC. Aka short bow and Nodachi. Meta units are berserkers, stalwarts, and hussars, all in some way have good resistance to CC. While the best weapons are Mauls, SS, and musket this season due to their ability to deal CC. That being said, a light armor class should focus on damage. Find units that cover your lack of defense or just be more careful.
