Heliolisk is better than Electabuzz imo. An extra 20 HP, attacks are basically the same, only you don't have to worry about dealing self-damage with Heliolisk's attack, both attacks also require 2 energy, so unless you just get horrible draws, you should be able to evolve by the time you need to attach the 2nd energy anyways, plus since it's pre-evo has an attack for 1 energy, you get to attack as you build up to Heliolisk's attack, whereas with Electabuzz you can't do anything until you attach that 2nd energy. Also, if you want to be an absolute madlad and play a multitype deck, Heliolisk's attack only requires colorless energy, so you'd have a much easier time powering it up.

It is better in a vacumm, but if you are running stage 1 there is no reason to run Heliolisk over Electrode. Electabuzz at least fills the niche of being a basic electric non-ex attacker.

@@bigwave1713 Electrode is for sure better, but idk Electabuzz still seems like a worse choice, unless you're running Lt. Surge at least. It being a basic doesn't matter much when you still need 2 turns minimum before you can attack with it (again unless you have Surge).

Alakazam trades well against Pikachu EX. Bait early damage or Sabrina with a fossil if you go first, draw aggressively with Meowth as soon you can attack, and charge up the main attackers even if you don't have the whole line in your hand. For those who don't know better, your 130 HP Alakazam can revenge KO their Pikachu without being instantly KOed back. Meanwhile those who are aware of that possibilty will try to play around it, buying you time to get a second Alakazam ready to be tagged in.

My deck is 2 pika, 2 zapdos and 2 of the voltorb line, the electrode has came in handy sooo many times with free retreat! Hopefully some more nice basic electric in the next expansions, originally started with a zard deck but got nowhere so changed to pika just before it was massively hyped everywhere 😁 I’d say I win more than 50% of my games now

I like the new intro if you’re using it to differentiate between your videos. If you’re talking about playing a game, this is great, but if you’re talking about the statistics of a set, I think you should go do your original intro. It gives us an expectation of what is to come from the video. Been a fan for probably seven years, still am!

I’ve had a lot of success running raichu and lt surge with one pika ex, no Zapdos ex. My deck consists of two electrodes, one raichu, one magneton, and one pika ex. Pika ex is good for early game and having electrode out early is good to tank/sack while you get it set up. If electrode survives, great, you can retreat for no energy, and you also have a second one in your back pocket in case it does go down. Focus on damage in the early game and use raichu in the late game w lt surge to get rid of high hp mons your opponent spent all match building up. I’ve personally had a lot of success with this deck. Sometimes the deck requires a bit of maneuvering but with magneton being the only 2 energy retreat mon, and x speeds, it’s almost never an issue. Not to mention magneton generates energy, so having it be the mon with the highest energy cost balances out pretty well

If only I could pull any pikachus or zapdos. Been pulling pikachu packs since global launch and doing wonder picks for them and nada. At least I got the starmie and Charizard decks completed but they're both weak to pikachus which are the most prevalent deck at account levels.
