2020 was celebrated as the 35th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros game releasing on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Mario made his first appearance, however, in 1981 in the arcade classic Donkey Kong. Did you know Mario was named after a real life plumber? The creators were behind on rent and the land lord was an Italian plumber named Mario Segale. So he made a deal with Mario to create Mario.

Great Video. With regards to Super Mario Run being the first outside of Nintendo Hardware, Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, and Donkey Kong Jr. were ported to Atari and the latter two to Intellivision.

You forget to mention the virtual boy wich was also a game console albeit a strange one with some mario titles on it, Also what if mario was still called jumpman from the beginning till the end, then we would have jumpman bros,super jumpman bros,super jumpman world,super jumpman galaxy,super jumpman 64 etc,,, Besides if somebody NEVER told shygaru myomoto that he found mario more look like a plumber rather then a canterpenter,the myomoto would,ve never come up with mario bros and supermariobros etc,,,

The Famicom (first version of the NES) released exclusively in Japan in 1983. It wasn’t released in North America (or called the NES) until 1985. The NES was a redesigned version of the Famicom.
