The OSFirstTimer KZbin Channel was created on November 3rd 2012 and just 6 months later it already had almost 8,000 subscribers and 800,000 total video views. How did OSFirstTimer start, where did the inspiration come from and how did I become so interested in operating systems.
This video takes you back to 2001 when I first started using computers then to 2007 when I first started making youtube channels and to 2012 when I created OSFirstTimer and all the way to now. Almost everything you could possibly know about the history of OSFirstTimer is in this video so get some popcorn (or whatever you like to eat), sit back and enjoy the next hour and 20 minutes of watching this video.

I can feel a slight pain in my wrists which I associate in my head with cranking on wrenches. I used to work with a woman who's father had numbness in the tips of his fingers, he thinks from twisting bolts.

Hey OSFirstTimer I need some help. I tried installing Windows Longhorn ISO's I found off the internet with Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 (Don't Ask, Explanation Incoming) It worked for a bit, but it never showed up the desktop icons. Just the background image and "Windows Longhorn XP Build ####" on the bottom lower right-hand side. I tried it with VM Workstation 11 but it didn't even show up the setup! Should I try more ISOs or what? Thanks!

I know i'm not OSFT, but have you selected the right operating system? Make sure your putting either Vista or XP depending on the build. (Pre-reset being XP and post-reset being Vista.) Also, check your ISO. I like downloading ISOs of beta versions of windows on WinWorld PC. I've downloaded longhorn 4074 on it and it worked on Virtual PC, VMware and the smoothest one being Virtualbox 5 beta. If it still doesn't work, then try a different build. Aside 4074, the most stable build before longhorn's reset after M1, alot of the builds are unstable and might not be working properly. Then again, it could be the configuration of your machine. Try messing with some of the CPU settings on VMWARE or Virtualbox. Another thing, try installing Windows XP first, and then installing longhorn within Windows XP. If you have an old PC in your house that you're not using, try to burn the iso onto a dvd or a cd for older builds, or use free software such as RUFUS or the less complex ISOtoUSB to put the iso onto the usb, boot up your physical computer and replace the OS on it with windows longhorn. One of these options are bound to work.

I think the first OS I used was Windows 95/98, but I grew up with Windows XP. When I got my own pc, Windows 7 was the latest OS at the time, so I used that for a few years, then I abandoned my Windows 7 desktop (even though it was still working) and bought a laptop with Windows 8 on it, that took a bit of getting used to, but I got there. Now I'm using Windows 10, and I'm loving it. I wonder what will come next though. I've experienced using Ubuntu as well, I strongly support open source software.

My first computer was also XP and it is still running! I learned by myself how to use a restore CD and have always been able to repair and XP since.That was probably the start of my computer interest and i am now studying Computers at college since kindergarten in school we had an hour a week with a windows 2000 computer which I was also amazed by(although i had a hard time with ctrl + alt + del).
