I see the point you're trying to make, but it isn't a good point at all. The Holocaust's '6,000,000' figure is well known because of how discussed and analysed it is, as the single biggest genocide in recent history. British and French casualties are not known as well by the general populace due to the relative proportion of military deaths in the war. Is this a good thing? No, probably not, but it doesn't detract from the figure in the Holocaust.

They were allies in all but name before Operation Barbarossa.

Another great video by Zoomer. I read years ago about the BFC. I read at least 4 British fighting in the battle of Berlin in the German forces. Well a handful of British troops also fought on the Soviet side in the battle of Berlin too. I know this, because one came from my hometown of Gateshead. His name was Michael Melia. He was a friend of my father. His nickname was "Lucky Mick".😏 He told my father of his adventures, and Dad told me. Mick was a POW in a German camp in the Far East of Germany which was "liberated" by the Soviets in Early 1945. The Soviets pressed the POWs into service in their forces. Any who refused, were shot. He saw an American General get shot point blank by a Russian officer, because he got argumentative with them. Mick's first action was the siege of Marianburg. He said leading dignitaries from the City, the Lord Mayor, Priests and a Police chief came to the Soviet lines with a white flag of truce, to offer to declare the City an "Open City". The Soviets mowed them down, then stormed into the City, and murdered everyone they came across, including children. He was powerless to do anything. Women were raped and then killed. Months later he was advancing on Berlin. He took part in the fighting for the city centre, right until the Germans surrendered on May 2nd. Then "Lucky Mick" got a stroke of luck. Days later he saw British officers disembarking from a plane. They were part of the delegation to divide the city up into the 4 Allied zones. Long story short, he pleaded with them to fly back with them to England. They agreed. Mick and two other English Soldiers were brought back to England. When he landed home, they were still wearing their filthy Red Army uniforms, and carrying Sub machine guns.

In 1945 talking about the soviets, the east and Waffen SS what many people don't know is, 14th division of Waffen SS Ukraine leader Pavlo Shandruk says in his book, "Arms Of Valor", page 238 that Alfred Rosenborg gave Ukrainians complete self determination with the forming of the Ukrainian National Committee. No wonder Ukrainian nationalists usually sided with the axis powers.

This is common sense as ukrainians were never a nation, ukrainian nationality is pretty new and all the land ukrainians wanted was already inhabitanted by either Poles or Russians so to create a monoethnic state they had to kill them. This has partially worked, look at modern ukrainian ethnic and linguistic map, far west ukraine is very "ukrainian" because they simply killed all the Poles in the Volyhnia Massacre and the more east you go the more russian it gets as ukrainians didn't really have leverage to kill russians at the time. The only thing I don't understand is why would the austrian painter support all that, he locked Stepan Bandera who was the leader of ukrainian nationalists after he tried to show how cool he is to the germans and killed a bunch of small hat people in Lviv 1941 (they did not like that). There even have been times where germans would supply polish policemen (so called green police) to fight those ukrainians carrying massacres. So I feel like germans only tried to get along with ukrainians when it came to attacking russia, but other then that they probably didn't care about them

Poles hate Germans for the teutonic order, it's like the polish kings invited german knights to get rid of pagans in eastern prussia, after they got rid of them instead of leaving the founded their country and held thier ground. Also at the time Poland got personal union with Lithuania which hated the Germans because they were pagans and Germans would kill them. So after Jagiełło (lithuanian guy) became the king of Poland they ended the teutonic order after the battle of Grunwald. And after that eastern prussua was always waging war between joining Germany and staying in Poland. Btw I don't blame germans for it, I'd just say that politics probably devided us throughout our whole history

Ukraine welcomed the Germans. Then a lot of Ukrainians helped the Germans round up people. They paid heavily once the Russians came back, driving out the Germans. This happened in other parts of Russia. But it was really noticeable in Ukraine. It's true that the eastern front of all the battlegrounds of WW2. It wasn't a simple them vs us. They were already fighting the USSR long before the cold war started.

The Spanish went through regular training as did the French and Nordic volunteers. YOU have NO proof that these people were mistreated in any way or were undertrained. If you do then cite it! They were certainly better trained than the vast majority of the conscripts we and Ukraine are sending to the front right now!

Tell the story of the 2 Irish men that didn’t know each other enlisted meet got drunk fought the local British police got abandoned by the British sent to these farms and end up fighting in the battle of Berlin and the battle of the bulge, surviving both the war and execution and returning home

They did know each other. I heard they were captured in Jersey in 1940. They were in the Glass house together. (Military prison) They joined the Germans in an instance. Both said they had only joined the British Army because they were poor, and Jobless, and that they had no loyalty to the King or British state etc. They ended up in the Brandenburg regiment. I heard one of them was amongst a handful of Germans who captured Belgrade in 1941. Both fought thru out the war. Both married German women. Both fought in the Battle of Berlin. One was wounded. Both survived the war. They were called James Brady and Frank Springer.

Kenneth Berry BFC , has the record of the lightest sentence for treason in British history. He came to mind this summer during the sentences of the disgruntled, many got twice what he did. I wasn't aware that some never got caught, that would have made for a great uncle Albert backstory in Only fools and horses. Rather than him posted to the Isle of Wight the whole war, I think it was that.
