If the cable channel that still calls itself "The History Channel" did these types of documentaries, I probably would have kept cable T.V. But since history has been dropped from their programming, I cut cable and watch You Tube channels like this.

You can read quite a few books by Henry Archibald Sayce and others for free on kindle. There is a guy out of Wales, I think he’s dead now, by the name of Bill Cooper. He wrote a 60+page long book on the biblical book of Esther, taking archaeology in history, like that of Herodotus and cross referencing everything. He has many books just like it that go into the 500 page range. If you read this one, you will be addicted to this author because he tells you where all his sources are from as he writes he gives you the primary sources not just in the bibliography.

This is a great video. I have a little interest in ancient kingdoms' history yet I finished this 46-minute video without a yawn. It's quite surprising that the existence of once a big empire, Hittite, was very much unknown until the 19th century.
@Bramble4515 жыл бұрын
It's a little more complex than that. For the most part, its existence wasn't questioned. Western scholars even got it right when they attributed sculptures of a certain style to the Hittites. What they got wrong was the geographic center of the Hittites - which they thought was in Syria because that's where most of their evidence came from, and the extent of its power. It was the discovery of Hattusa and its thousands of cuneiform tablets that revolutionized our understanding of the true nature of the empire. Something that did fall completely out of our knowledge was the Hittite and its related languages. That has been the effort of over a century now of scholarship.

The story of how Hittite was translated and found to be related to the modern European languages deserves a few minutes in a lecture such as this. Also the collapse of the Hittite kingdom coincides with the presumed end of Trojan war. (1177 B.C.) The kingdoms to the west were most likely the Lydians, who were driven into famine due to the Trojan war and split their people in half, the crown prince (Tyrrus) taking half the people to northern Italy, becoming the Etruscans, or modern Tuscany. Such details would go a long ways toward building interest in the populations of your reader/listeners. There is good evidence the Hittites were part of the ancestral populations that peopled Europe.
@cirthador1453 Жыл бұрын
That is most likely a myth, at least the part about Tyrrhus taking his people to Etruria/Tuscany. Though, the story of how the language was translated and is the first known Indo-European language is very interesting andit would have been nice if the video had touched on it.

There are 5 distinct groups of sea people working with each other and Syrian and leave times and anatolians who simaltaniuly are moving provisions by land. It does seem that they are motivated by want to food for the organization to work. Moreover, one of the groups is resettled in Egypt, and as mentioned in another text is still living there 100 years after which means it, Egyptians gave them a way to grow their own food which implies, the climate change collapse may actually be true. I’m not saying it’s true. It just has more evidence for it than modern climate change fanaticism does. Wilusa(Troy) was at war with the Greeks not all of Phriga. The collapse of Troy is a big deal for the Greeks, and as they settle the Tiber Valley later for Italy, but likely not enough to cause the kind of movement that we see with the sea peoples. The shackle ash are fairly well connected to the island of Sicily, which was a hotbed of piracy at the time either the guys with the horns helmets.

There seems to be a language connection. Only, the people certainly don’t look European they are not. They look like mixed race people that look Chinese and African and European at the same time. They depicted how they looked come to think of it. They look a little bit like Aztecs. And bring me bread and water. The word and head out for water is water. Some German guy figured it out. And now everyone wants to connect ration language as if African-Americans were related to the Anglo-Saxons just because they speak English. Carrot was written in corner form, which they got from the Assyrians for Semites. They likely cut structural parts of their language from the Indo Europeans. They were fighting with to the north, who we know definitely became the Armenians and likely the Germans and Celts also and these three groups are genetically connected besides in fact, you have a genetic link from Ireland to uighurland in China and down into Cameroon and Africa, so the genetics of these people in Europe are spread pretty far and wide. . Also, there are other genetics sets that indicate the British Isles lynched with a barrier. The Germans linked with Italy and the Slavs crank linked with the Greeks, which indicates they move north as the ice receded from their Mediterranean purchs.

I’m sorry but pretty much everything you said here is wrong. Yes they were the first Indo-Europeans we know of that wrote. But, modern day Turkey is NOT the Middle-East. They did learn their writing from Middle-Easterners. On top, Germanic civilization have been writing since at least 2000 years, first runes, then Roman letters. You realize the early 20th century is the 1900s right, WW1 and such.

Nice overall researched presentation! I personally see everything through the Biblical record and as Assyria is a major Player your documentary sets the stage for How and Why the Assyrians come into the picture. Much of Israel's history is low key during the rise of Assyria as we would be in the time of The Judges. The Sea People's no doubt contributed to the Philistines and from there on we have 'lots' of great Biblical info to go with. The only real mention of the Hittites thereafter was- Huriah The Hittite (A covert to Judah) and the husband of Beersheba whom King David had set-up to be killed to have her.

@@alissa6hat’s because Israel did not exist in this time period YET. It was founded shortly after this period when the Habiru, a people who lived on the Egyptian border near the Sinai Peninsula fled Egypt due to it collapsing in on itself, wherefore they then conquered the land of Canaan and then became known by their modern name: The Hebrews. All of that happened approximately in the 1100-1000’s BC where the video ends at around 1200 BC. Furthermore, we know for sure that Israel and/or Judah did exist in the centuries after this period because of other kingdoms and civilizations such as the Neo-Assyrians, Neo-Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans referring to them.

It's interesting that this presentation failed to mention that the first time in history that the name Hittite was mentioned was in the Bible. Higher criticism claimed that the Bible was historically untrustworthy since no other source of history mentioned the Hittites. The first book of the Bible, Genesis, mentions the Hittites a number of times. The truth is that nothing the Bible has ever claimed to be historically correct has ever been shown to be false.

It is very untrusthy talking about time before the time the Israel/Judah kingdom existed. For example, speaking about the hittites. For them, they were just another caananite kingdom, even they, somewhat, understood they had some kind of prosperous. The Bible never mentions how powerful the hittite empire was, and that is because the collective memories of the Judah/Israel kingdom was not that old to remember that. The world of these kingdom was the beggining of the Iron age. Another clear example of their lack of knowledge is that they believed that Nimrod was the first city of the Assyrian (hence the descendant of Cain was this mighty hunter), but the first capital of Assyria was Assur. But they had no way to know that, possibly, in their collective memory, that was the oldest capital of Assyria they knew (which was the second capital of Assyria). It is a good way to understand the Iron age, but very bad to understand times before that.

You said Anatolia is a formidable place to live. On the contrary this is one of the best places where the civilization started.. not just in Catalhoyuk 9500 yra but in Tepeler region, tfe most famous of which is Göbekli tepe,from 11,500 yra.. Since then many empires considered Anatolia their home or major part of their home, including Hittites, Frigians (remember King Midas), Assyrian, Greeks, Persians, Romans, Seljuks, and Ottomans leading to Turkiye. It has a still odor the best places too I’ve and strategically the significant. Thanks for give by lecture on Hittites..👍

I have seen in person the modern day decendents of hitite people in the modern day country of Iraq. To clarify this statement I will say that I was fortunate enough to have a local Iraqi national, a individual who served as my interpreter of the language/culture/religion in this part of the world, he was a PHD in ancient history of this nation,he explained to me about the different types of people I seen in Iraq,I ask him about the very tall blond headed blue eyed people I saw in Iraq, and he said to me that they were decent of the hitites.
@jozadak78042 жыл бұрын
how they identified themselves, as Kurds or Turkmens. when the Ottoman empire ruled this region it sent many "Ottoman" citizens from Anatolia to northern Iraq they were probably descended Of the Hittites, but they were not mostly blond, Most were of common olive skin color from the Middle East, Mediterranean as well as the Turks.
@defendfreedom7772 жыл бұрын
@@jozadak7804 thank you sir for that information,I definitely was curious about these light skinned tall blond headed blue eyed people who just did not fit in with the population of this country,most people there are of darker complexions of varying degrees,I worked alongside Kurdish men and never saw a blond among them.

@@Mixran yes I agree with you on your point,but I think that maybe the point my terp was trying to make is that somehow these tall blond blue eyed people that I seen with my own eyes were in some way genetically related to the Hittites down through the ages.The Hittites it is my understanding did once live in this region,if I trace my own genetics back I have discovered that I am related to the Viking people of ancient Norway and it definitely shows in my appearance,all of us living Go back to someone who lived many thousands of years ago.

Johnnie Wood .... I "think" was is missing is Genesis 36:2, the union of Esau and Cana'an through the lines of the money/military power then/now the Hittites. With their code of Cana'an ("canon") law, sodomy, pedophilia and Ba'al priests it is easy to equate Vatican curia's council of Cana'an being Hittite! O. K. that is one part of Gen3sis 36:2; where are the Esau-ites today? The State of Isn't Real is situated on the land David bought with God's approval. At 1948 it was Judah George VI who symbolically gave David's land back to Cana'an under the Ball Four Declaration. Shortly after Vatican received the land the land was then loaned to the Esau-ites who created the Iewish State of Isn'tReal. We have seen the Hittites and Esau-ites in business June 6-11 1967 when Vatican sent Isn'tReal to take Hebron in the 666 daze war. Now why would the Cana'anites want with Hebron other than the DNA within the Cave of the Patriarchs at Hebron. Do you suppose the mRNA World War III "shot" has anything to do with attacking the DNA specific to the Seed of Abraham ... witch would invariably include the Esau-ites? I think it is brilliant how We the People (government) conned the brain dead We the PERSONS (voters) into taking the "shot" absent any lawful orders! I further believe this world is on the bicuspid of radical change in a good way! With the Number 2 international Terrorists about to be wiped out and the #1 International Terrorists, the "Christians", following them as JeZEUS told them to obey the civil authority, the world will be rid of the 2 greatest brain dead this world has ever seen! What a scene!

Hi! A little bit...I've dabbled a bit in Old Persian and taken a couple of classes in Middle Persian (Pahlavi-Parsig) and basic Avestan. Other than that just read translations of others' work and browse through Sumerian and Akkadian/Babylonian dictionaries. So I finally finished this video! It seemed every time I snuggled up to watch, some interruption would present itself... This video was super cool Cy! • The picture at 2:30 looked like the picture was taken yesterday! • I really liked the. reliefs too • I also was thinking about how all the news was passed. Having to walk, ride all those miles every time something needed to be reported. • You did great on the artists' renditions too. • Thanks for also putting in names of places with their current name. I had a lot of fun on this 'trip' to the middle east... Thank you! 👏💞👇🌟

Glad you liked it! This was the longest one I've put together. I think in future I'll be doing mostly shorter ones but in a series, like the recent Sumerian or Akkadian Empire ones... viewers seem to like shorter vids that are easier to digest. I suppose if they like those, they'll watch others in the series. I'm also going to do some more informal vids as well. Hittites are a really fascinating people and culture and I'm planning a few more vids the subject. If you have any requests, please let me know and I'll see what I can do. Thanks again for stopping by and your kind words...they are very inspiring and motivate to make more of these! It's appreciated!

Very good , informative account of a far fetched (time wise) empire of Hittites. One can get full idea of Hittite Kingdom in a nutshell from this video. I wonder how the stone inscriptions of as old as 1700 B C are produced and deciphered in Anatolia, Whereas in India we dont have such ancient meaningful stone inscriptions before 3 rd century B C . Can you tell something about Bogaz koy stone inscriptions near Hatthusa which give an account of conditions of treaty held between Hittites and Mittanis in 14 th century B C ? Because in that treaty there is mention of Indian RigVedic Gods like Indra and Mitra.
