It’s unfortunate how this series was treated after the release of Yokai Watch 1. Between the show airing at random times on Disney XD ( a channel that isn’t accessible to everyone), Hasbro dropping it like a ton of bricks to focus on Star Wars, Transformers and their other popular properties, non cohesion between the different properties in America, and given the infamous title “Pokémon Killer” which is not . Honestly it’s a great and fun series and a breath of fresh air. I hope more games get brought over to the states :)

Even though I have nostalgia for a couple other games, I would have to say Yokai Watch and part 2 specifically my favorite game. I played it for hundreds of hours. I really wish the series was more popular or at least had more of a following. Here's hoping that we get yokai watch 4 in the west.

This video was great! Thanks for making it! I didn’t think I’d see ANY Yo-Kai Watch content like this in a year… I miss this series It’s to bad Level 5 has been shut down in America. There was something special about this franchise. It was very unique, despite being criticized as a “Pokémon ripoff” I remember waiting MONTHS for a new episode of the Yo-Kai Watch Dub to come out. That’s when I started to notice a decrease in merchandise. The fact that they got new VA’s for the dub also made me realize that the series was dying in America, and the show was canceled. Yo-Kai Watch 3 was a surprise. I didn’t think it would make it to America. Despite TONS of Yo-Kai Watch games, shows, and movies not being translated, I’m just glad the series ended on a high note in America. Seriously, YKW3 is amazing. I prefer to play games in English, but this series is just so good, I had to buy Yo-Kai Watch 4. It was pretty solid, but I thought it needed a bit more content. Yo-Kai Watch 5 may never see the light of day though, as I think this series has officially died worldwide. R.I.P, Yo-Kai Watch. That series had such a great run.

It's still going far in japan, so it may be Japanese exclusive. Great thing about basically all of the main games on the 3ds were released. This is good, because the Japanese games aren't compatable with the US DS. The switch however, is not region locked. You can buy and play the Japanese games on there. Though you may not be able to understand it right off the bat, guides help you figure out the story, choices, and context. That's at the very least the bright side. I remember constantly checking for new episodes of the dub, but it took forever too. I was slightly disappointed when the final airing episode was the one where they raced a grand prix. I was hoping it would at least make it to the dream watch. It really was a sad crush. I remember this too, the store at my grandma's house was roughly one to two years behind stock for the series compared to where I live, or so it seemed. You came here back in 2019-2020, you'd get a really dented pin you could find under the Pokemon card section. At my grandma's walmart, the Pokemon section was behind sun and moon, the Pokemon cards were full, the yo kai watch merch however, still stood there. Every time, maybe one or two packages gone. I bought a really busted pack of the cards and a pin, of which were the last I saw there ever. The merch seemed to never be bought, yet still a thin section. They had fleshy souls and psychic spectres as of last year, and I haven't been again. If they still have any, I would be shocked. I was surprised the DVDs were still at my walmart? I bought the movie, but season 1 is still there? It really is hardly touched. Sorry, this is a lengthy comment. I just am really passionate about this series. Haha.

@@harbycolonelmiles It really is sad, though. There was this book store I used to go to and there was an entire Yo-Kai Watch section. As time passed, none of the merchandise sold well. As more time passed, the entire section was gone, never to be seen again. I haven’t seen any Yo-Kai Watch content in America for years, although I did find a book at some store and a DVD of season 1 this year. I think the comics are still being translated, though. I think their available online. Everything else just disappeared.

Yeah, I think it's still being translated. I just recently found issue 8 at a bookstore in Ohio a year or so ago, but I had already had that issue. No other issues were there. Our bookstore used to be the same. Used to have 1-5, our school's scholastic bookfair carried scholastic branded yo kai watch anime guides, manga, and pencils with yo kai tops (they were super cheap, no one wanted it, and I managed to collect some). Target used to have figures, and Wal-Mart had a few of the watches. I noticed in elementary a lot of kids would pick on people who liked the series, and, as in elementary, it stings more than it should. I feel like that had a toll on my friends, which I feel could've been a small piece of the puzzle. No kid's gonna want something that causes them sadness and fear. Aside from that, a place called 'planet fun ' I found in Savanah, Georgia carries yo kai watch merch still. I think they probably buy it off of people or keep it in store knowing they have a bunch of old merch and games. Strange enough, a lot of merch is still out in random stores, you just need to really dig deep haha. It is sad though, it was an underrated series that had so much potential. (Sorry if my grammar is off, I'm no good at typing and proofreading haha)

Yeah, the community and fandom was a really welcoming place. Some people are still active, but not many people... It's kinda sad. Also, where can I find the Japanese anime? I tried looking on youtube, but for the most part it was the dub. I remember before that, a whole lot of the Japanese anime was on KZbin before the American release of season 3. I miss it.

That's nuts! I searched for yo kai watch 3 in a few states at both GameStop and Wal-Mart. I had a talk with a guy who was a pretty big fan too, we had a nice chat. I never found it, but I got the digital release. I hope that Nintendo steps in, even though it's kind of obvious it's not gonna happen. Yo kai watch 4 would probably be a HUGE booster in the us, and the original yo kai watch being ported to the switch could help make it more accessible for some people. I'm just glad that some people still like it, and I can find people to talk about yo kai watch to without getting bullied haha

Hey there, do you have a timestamp for which part you're referring to? At about 27:50 we mentioned that the first game was released in America, the US, and Australia in 2015 and 2016. As for Yo-Kai Watch 2, we mentioned those coming out in 2016 at around 36:40. If I accidentally put the date as 2016 somewhere else I'd like to correct it!
