Skullface was actually there during the event of mgs3, off screen of course, he was a Sort of a backup plan if NS was to fail operation snake eater, side note, during ground zeroes has anyone else noticed where Chico pulls his mic plug from when skullface gives the tape to him, I think the black site was actually being used as a test site for the skulls/vocal cord parasite research, also pretty sure the other bomb was in her jay jay! Something that needs to be pointed out is that Kojima was a Producer for Portable Ops, and Peace Walker mentions putting the "San Hieronymo Peninsula incident behind" in the early cutscene. The San Hieronymo Peninsula is the setting for Portable Ops. It is full canon to the series. It is not like AC!D, AC!D2, or any other game that deviates from the main story. No, it actually connects Metal Gear Solid 3, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, Metal Gear Solid V, Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, and Metal Gear Solid by introducing two key characters. Roy Campbell and Frank Jaeger (aka Grey Fox). It really irks me to see people omitting Portable Ops, but including Peace Walker just because Kojima didn't write or direct the story. Oh, and Portable Ops also includes Para-Medic, Sigint, Zero, Eva, and Ocelot. It also sets up the formation of the Patriots and FOXHOUND. Venom Snake is the one who creates Outer Heaven.
