NO ROADHOG: due to Roadhog's upcoming rework (and generally horrific state), I chose to skip Roadhog. When I review his reworked state, I will link it here. In the meantime, here's my separate In-Depth guide for current Roadhog: kzbin.info/www/bejne/laCmoIuwaayHf8k

26:53 I plan on watching the entire thing as I have time. I’m up to the beginning of the gold doomfist replay and I have to just say thank you for what you’re doing. Your content is educational, and I love your “tough love” approach. I can hear the passion in your voice, and I wish you all the success in the world growing your channel. This is valuable content that can teach all of the newbies (not inflammatory) the solid fundamentals to build on and practice mastering. I’ve learned more in 26 minutes than 26 days. That’s value my friend.

I've played this game for years, and always played support + DPS. Tank is so much responsibility, and I hated getting diffed or letting my team down + not knowing why. So I avoided tank altogether (still do). Maybe, after watching this video's intro + hero specifics, I can try again. Thanks for this great reference. You explain things very clearly.

I only started playing tank because of how much fun doomfist is, and it really opened my mind to why people play tank in general. It’s like really fast paced chess, and outsmarting the other team will never get old.

I’ve never heard of Spilo before. I found this video about a week ago and have been watching it on my free time. I just finished it. I actually had a bit of vods from before I began this video and surprisingly I did very well following these guidelines even before starting this video. However, naturally I was inconsistent because this whole video is like a “Oh, that’s obvious and I kind of know that, but actually hearing it out loud changes everything.” I’ve been dominating plenty of games now. The “I’m gonna change the community” moment is something I really appreciate. Your work here is not unnoticed, thank you.

Really good tips, I learned a bunch - I had some notes on the orissa section: She's def a hardcounter to doomfist - his play style is mobility, and javelin spin and spear are amazing shutdowns. If he uses block ever in sight-line of orissa, he's dead 99% of the time because she just spears him out of it into a wall. His punch is useless against spear, spin, and fortify, it's really just a brutal matchup for him. Every time I've played orissa against doom I've rolled him or they've immediately swapped off Second point - the spin is pretty decent for CC. You see the plat orissa CC the tank into the back, which is a pretty common strat. Since she's a brawl-tank, you can usually use it to push enemies off the map at choke-points while you're fighting there. Also - part of the reason she's a decent counter to ball, the spin completely stops his forward progress. If he's swinging through to attack your backline, you can completely stop him, forcing him to sit there awkwardly until he can get enough energy to move again Also minor - you talk about it a bit, but I think one of the plats biggest mistakes is spamming cooldowns. You see her just hitting fortify when there's no one around, and using spin immediately into a spear. As you say, orissa's playstyle is based on her cooldowns, and he's never keeping them around for when he needs them Otherwise - great points. I've never considered using the spin to always move into cover, and I'll def be using her more to attack the backline
@GriFFonRec4
@GriFFonRec4 Жыл бұрын
Orisa doesn't really counter Doom if the Doom is playing correctly. If the Orisa is focused on peeling, then she is taking no space and your DPS can have all the angles they want. If the enemy DPS are trying to take angles by themselves you can punish that. If they are all grouped around the Orisa then you can abuse slam and get a ton of poke/shields. She has like 2 favorable interactions but you have a great 1 too. If she spins without fortify then you cancel it which is huge. If she's using spin AND fortify then she's useless for a little while after gold wears off and doom can DEFINITELY kill her with some help (considering her mobility it shouldn't be hard to get help). As long as you avoid diving into the team (or into a small room) when Orisa has all her CDs then you can definitely win the MU. Her ult is actually useless/advantageous for you. Now that's 2 advantageous interactions for you and her. The MU is even at worse, as long as you play it correctly. BTW, what Doom wants to do is ignore the tank and attack back line and Orisa is critically weak at protecting her back line if she cannot reach them, so play style wise you win the MU too.

I don't know who you are or what your significance to OW is but you did a very good job communicating concepts and explaining things as they happen in the matches. Thank you for posting the stream onto KZbin. What is the consensus for counters with top players currently? I know a majority of the community is still very much attached to the counter philosophy, enabled by the devs and their bad balancing, but you were very clear how even the apparent counters for Winston can be played around very well. I would love to see a DPS stream like this to hear what you have to say about Widow and Pharah being so strong but still having heroes they have weaknesses playing into. I especially would like hear what you say about Junkrat who is super inconsistent with how his weapon works and has alright utility but has some of worst if not the most bad match-ups in the game. He has to be played very unconventionally to find success and it doesn't really mesh well with organized play in OWL.

It comes with practice. Personally, before a fight I take a look at my allies, and then I go on my mission. To know what's going on in real time, I rely on the sound, the scoreboard in the top right and what I see. And then I analyze the opportunities

if you are taking the pressure off your team by putting pressure yourself on the enemy team, then your team will be in a stronger position than the enemies and should win, so most of the time the goal is just to make everything more difficult for the enemy team which would subsequently make everything easier for your team as they have less stress than the enemies during the fight. But also know that everything is relative to the context in the game and sometimes you need something completely different to give yourself and your team the best chance at winning so its always good to limit test within different scenarios and slowly build an understanding yourself on when to do things so your team docent get rolled.
