25:44 This is actually far from what the ending of the game is about. StH had quite possibly the worst dub in Sonic history so a lot of the original meaning was lost in translation. During the end of the game, Shadow proclaims that he's doing away with his past completely and is doing what he wants. Him destroying the Black Comet may have been what Gerald and Maria wanted him to do, but it wasn't done for them. That was done so he could bury his past completely. While Shadow says "I made a promise and I'm here to keep it." in the English dub (which again is probably the worst dub in Sonic history) that's not what he said in the original Japanese version of the game. Instead, he said that he was going to simply fulfill Gerald's wish and part with the past: It was a means to an end. It's also even more explicit when he proceeds to chase after Black Doom, where he explicitly says he's let go of his past completely and is no longer bound to anyone at all. He didn't defeat Black Doom and destroy the Black Comet because Maria and Gerald wanted him to. He did it to completely bury the past, and he then proceeds to literally throw away the old photo of Maria and Gerald who at one point meant everything to him. Lastly, notice what he says before doing so. "Adios, Shadow the Hedgehog." This is a line we hear being said to Shadow when people are never going to see him again, whether it be Maria saying it to Shadow before she sends him to Earth, Shadow saying adios to Sonic because he thinks he's gonna get locked up forever, Sonic saying it to Shadow after thinking he fell to his death, and now Shadow is saying it to *himself*. It's a final confirmation that the Shadow who cared about his past and Maria is dead. As for Shadow's purpose: -At first he existed for Gerald to study immortality to give the United Federation immortal soldiers, and so that Maria could get a cure for a disease that was gonna kill her. -When the ARK is being raided, Maria tells him his purpose should be to look over Earth. -Gerald reprograms Shadow to think he has to pursue revenge, and long after that the old recording of him telling Shadow his purpose is to destroy the Black Comet is dug up. -Black Doom tells him Shadow's purpose is to hand the Chaos Emeralds over to the Black Arms because of the deal made with Gerald and that Shadow should serve Black Doom because he helped create Shadow. -Eggman tells Shadow he's a Shadow Android in the main path of the game and that Shadow should serve him because of that, and in others Eggman says Shadow should serve him because Eggman is Gerald's grandson. -The GUN Commander tells him he's a monster that shouldn't exist. -Sonic & co tell him he's a hero who should fight on their side. Notice the pattern here? Everyone has always been telling Shadow what he should do time and time again. He has never been able to choose for himself.

Sonic lives on a planet (technically Earth in the original Japanese version of the games) where humans and anthros live together. His planet has more hedgehogs on it than just Sonic, Shadow and Amy.

And you have got to realise that EGGMAN is important to this story as well he let shadow out he worked with shadow and then teamed up with the good guys to stop his grandads plan because eggman being a VIALLEN even agreed that his plan to blow the earth up was a scummy plan because he wanted to kill everyone even his own grandson had he not been on the ark he would have died too which was sad to eggman because he said Gerald was his role model he looked up to him and was inspired by him to be a sintist as well we don't know how he felt about his cousin Maria though according to sonic frontiers he never knew her which is vague because what do you mean you never knew her if you knew your grandad surly you have met her at some point I don't know eggman and Maria are vague when it comes to each other the only thing said was that they are cousins we don't know who's side she is from and we don't know who's side Gerald is from.🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷
