William Nylander is the prototypical hockey winger who does almost everything on the ice. He’s among the most highly skilled in the league and possesses an ability to read the game at high speed. What sets him apart from his peers, though, is his pure doggedness and tenacity both on offense and defense. Nylander doesn’t give up on a play until he hears a whistle. And even then, he double checks.
When it comes to creating turnovers, Nylander is the most skilled forward Hockey Truffles has featured to date (and 2nd overall only to Adam Fox). He has a mammoth bag of tricks for dispossessing opposing players of the puck, and employs them frequently and with glee. There aren’t any weaknesses to his game, and every team in the league would happily pay just about any price to bring his abilities to their 1st line. All that’s left to be determined is what that price will be, and which team will be writing the checks.

I've seen Toronto play a few times in person against NJ and Nylander always looked like the most dangerous Leaf when he had the puck on his stick. Just from the eye test he seemed like the most skilled player on Toronto. Anyway, awesome video as usual. Keep them coming!

i'm so glad to see him FINALLY getting the praise and respect he deserves as a deadly shooting and passing threat. he's a dangerous pp weapon even doing well on the pk. he has experience at centre and has played both wings. he has developed into a scary player and is only getting better defensively. i see him using his body more and crashing the net. he's definitely a top winger in the league and one of the most exciting and noticeable players on the ice in most games. his vision, shot, speed and creativity have always been elite from a young age. he just needed more ice time and opportunities with better players which he's finally getting after a decade.

Fun fact about Michael Nylander - his last NHL goal was assisted by Brooks Laich. His son William Nylander's first NHL goal was also assisted by Laich. Laich father, Laich son. i saw this absolute gem of a comment somewhere by a guy called AvsJoe and its so incredibly good that i have to credit this man, idk if he was the first to really point that out but im assuming he was because otherwise it'd be the most common fun fact brought up in the NHL

Many said how bad Willy was in his first few years but they have no idea how talent is nurtured because he kept believing he was great, he is now, better than top 5 in NHL. You tell me the top one hundred players in the NHL and all of them gave up the puck at one point in there career. Every game has 200 plus turnovers in it. that is why we have one team going to one of the nets and then they go to the other side.

He is the most uninvolved player. Never engages in puck battles and always gives up on 50/50 plays. Never skates unless he has the chance to score. Dangerous with the puck? Yes. What will he do to get the puck? Not as much as he could. He is FAR from being a complete player who backchecks as hard as he skates for a goal. So much wasted potential for a complete player
