Yu Yu Hakusho is one of the many classic animes that aired on Toonami and was a gateway anime for people. It may have been a while since you have last seen it but here are the basics, it follows Yusuke Urameshi as he becomes a spirit detective after dying after saving a kid. This series is filled with amazing fights, memorable characters like Yusuke, Kuwabara, Kurama, Hiei, Toguro, and so many more. For the next timeline episode, 3 instantly comes to mind. Trigun, Full Metal alchemists, and Brotherhood. Also, I'd like to pitch an idea for an episode "Anime that you should finish" The premise is that in the early days of toonami/adult swim, they introduced a lot of animes, but for various reasons, didn't finish airing them. Yuyu hakusho is actually a great example I remember the dark tournament being that last thing I saw in the afternoon block. Years later, I see yuyu on at 3am, and he looks like he went super Saiyan 3, without the blonde, and he was covered in tattoos, and was flying...I think. Needless to say, I needed to backtrack.

In the Philippines, Kurama was named Denise(woman's name) as we thought he is a female but after confirming that Kurama is male, Kurama was changed into Dennis(man's name) and the story line was... At young age, Kurama was a girl then when he grew up, he transferred himself to body of human being man. As the explanation was.. Kurama was just disguising as a woman. At first, his voice was a woman, but eventually changed too. In fact, the dubber of Kurama in the Philippines became my co-worker in a company. Hahahah!

Unlikely. Kurama was not strong enough to be a king. He was a professional thief but never progressed past an A class demon until maybe recently. And even as an S class the other three kings still outclassed him. Honestly I just don't think he was interested.

Looking back on the series, as good as the first two arcs were, I really was drawn in by the mystery and dark themes of Chapter Black. My favourite image was Sensui cradled in Itsuki's arms, drifting into space. The strongest aspect of the show imo was the characters, and their chemistry, combined with the amazing va work. I always thought of Kurama as the true hero of the series, he was a beautiful soul who always acted with kindness and compassion.

Considering this video is almost a year old I doubt you're reading comments, but on the off chance you are hopefully the 40 minutes I spent watching this and subsequent liking/subbing to your channel convey the tone of this comment. That tone being one of appreciation, but criticism (of a constructive nature). I watched this series as a kid and at 32 am just as big of a nerd now as I was then, but much like you did in this video a nearly immeasurable amount of times I would disparage things I enjoyed out of some fear of appearing uncool or whatever. This is a 40 minute video on the timeline of a 20+ year old anime. Every person here is here out of a nostalgic love for this and whilst I can't speak for everyone I personally feel it is a great disservice to gloss over things or outright dismiss them like you're trying to impress a girl and feel embarrassed by knowing the source material and think being dismissive of it or pretending you don't know it is the best course of action. I feel this has already gone too long for a KZbin comment so I will spare you the dissertation I had initially set out to deliver. Just c'mon man..stop acting ashamed of what you've set out to do here and own it. Besides that, thanks for doing this I enjoyed the trip down memory lane.

The Filipino version is not just a strange dub with strange names like "Dennis". It was a complete re-edit. Understandable due to the violence. It was a big daily primetime show. What came out was probably just 75% of the story here. Also, Genma changed into a man with a hokey name "Master Jericho". It was insane.

This is my all time favorite Anime ever!!! Besides Sailor Moon, Ace Attorney, Bleach, and Persona 5 Anime to be in my top five, Yu Yu Hakusho is my number one.

I never understood how Tarukane thought Yusuke + Kuwabara had killed the Toguro brothers when they literally did not wound Elder Toguro in any way.. he was a sword at the time and literally didn't even get hit

The weird thing was watching Yu Yu Hakusho after watching Fushigi Yuugi. Because the 4 gods of the directions, Byakko the tiger, Suzaku the phoenix, Genbu the turtle and Seiryu the dragon, they're LEGIT gods in Fushigi Yuugi, they're not beings that can be fought, they're not these petty youkai creatures with petty motivations.
