Yea, as a starlight I remember people (international and knetz) making fun of VIXX for the eye contacts, makeup, collars and their theatrics. NOW they are literally the standard that almost every boy group follows 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽, I put VIXX up their with Infinite, BAP and SHINEE as trailblazers for concepts and unique sounds!

A pity VIXX begun as the one of the strong non-big 3 horses in the race of 3rd gen, along side BAP and BTS, but Jellyfish simply missed many opportunities, giving many hiatuses, lack of promos. I remember when VIXX came to my country, even tho they performed in a small venue, the fandom was really happy and satisfied with their performance. When I became kpopper they already were on hiatus, and on enlistment period/solos/kdramas, so I kinda stanned them casually. Voodoo doll, Chained up, Error, Fantasy, Scentist, Shangri-la, Beautiful liar, Circle, On and on...so many good songs and bsides. VIXX is known by their theatricalesque style of choreo and concept but I consider them as well really manly and mature like 2PM, even at their more colorful era! Idk how to explain, but if you compare VIXX personality on stage compared to other groups, they are like that, in my point of view, like SF9 as well have this vibe. Many concepts they werent afraid of going more sexy or into scary horror, even doing a 19+ mv lol. I still think it was kinda stupid the fact one member had to leave the group bc he recorded a "unpolite" drunk livestream.

Honestly, I still don't think the live stream incident was enough to throw Binnie out. Many Kpop idols are even more savage than he is and they're not being kicked out. I'm forced to think that he was pressured into resigning from VIXX. In my heart, it would always be 6VIXX for me.😔❤❤

I miss VIXX so much. Nobody is doing like them anymore and i don't think anyone will in the future. They really was kings of concept, VIXX didn't just used concepts as a support for their album, they lived the concept. Did research, cared for details and made sure the concept is strong in every aspect. From lyrics to choreography and even merch was about the concept. We got real perfumes for merch and scented albums when they did a perfume makers concept, we got real bdsm contracts and chokers when the concept was bdsm/master-pet relationship, we got traditional fans when it's traditional concept. When they used dr jekyll and mr hyde as a concept, they arranged hyde choreo to symbolise story in the book from start to finish. When they had concert with a hex sign concept, they put an entire intro section like a cult ritual scene. Litteraly no other kpop group reached their level when it's about concepts, we need the kings back in kpop

Thank you for putting some respect on the name!!! I saw VIXX in 2013 on their Milky Way tour in LA, my friends and I "VIXX-bounded" if you will, on and on style outfits (I wore a dark blue velvet blazer, dark blue shorts and outer space patterned tights and did the iconic makeup) and at the high touch event they were all like "Woah!!! 멋있다!" and all had huge smiles on their faces. I miss them!

I feel like many Starlights already know this, but Leo, Ken, and Hyuk came together and did a RGB (red, green, and blue) concept and released a single called "Gonna Be Alright". They also made a concert called the "ING Concert".

I squealed audibly when I saw this had uploaded. VIXX are my ults and probably always will be, because no one will likely ever do concepts as well as they can. They weren't a one-trick pony, they really could do anything and everything and do it *well.* Obviously, they're more suited to darker, more serious concepts, but that doesn't mean that their brighter concepts are jarring or feel out of place in their discography. I think it does help that even much of their upbeat releases have a feeling of melancholy or "wrongness" to it, such as Love Equation being a breakup song, or G.R.8.U. being a prequel to Hyde, with some of its lyrics being... well red flags, to say the least. 😬 I hope that eventually, all the members can distance themselves from Jellyfish, buy the rights to their name and discography, and reunite under another label, preferably Ravi's, similar to the way Shinhwa did. This way, there's still a chance Hongbin could rejoin them at some point. As it stands, even though I miss him terribly, there's no way I'd want him to rejoin Jellyfish with the abysmal way the company treated him there near the end. No idea what the members are planning to do from here on out, but even if we never get any more music from them as a group, Scentist and Eau de VIXX was a helluva note to go out on, and they've left behind a legacy that no one will ever quite be able to touch. Thanks for the retrospective and spotlight on one of the most underrated 3rd gen groups, it's does my heart good to know that other people still remember and appreciate them. :')

Please support them 🙏 -Ravi is now ceo of two companies, the l1ve (managing mamamoo wheein) and groovl1n (managing xydo, nafla, justhis and ravi himself), releasing solo songs and producing music for himself and other artists (like wheein, xydo, gwsn etc.) -Leo is releasing solo songs, doing musicals and preparing for his acting debut in a bl drama -Hakyeon is now a professional actor -Hyuk is now a soloist and did his acting debut in a bl drama -Ken is releasing solo songs and doing musicals -Hongbin is now a full time twitch streamer after leaving the group They are still interacting on social media and supporting each other's solo works. Vixx is still together and waiting for all members's return for a comeback. We still have two to go, ravi is leaving in a few days and hyuk have two more years to enlist from age unless he enlists early. But they will come back one day

VIXX is one of those groups that had a great impact on this industry but because they weren't mega hits and didn't come from a huge company, their name fades with time. They exemplified how a group with dedication and committment to a strong dark concept, esp one that int'l might be popular, but up until this point wasn't that heavily used in kpop, could succeed. What really put the cherry on the cake for me was that they never really recycled concepts (yes there was a couple comebacks with the same theme ish) but throughout the bulk of their career they played with "dark" and what this could mean from vampire, robots, to sexy. It's a shame that Jellyfish couldn't keep up the momentum with their future groups.

I feel so much pride as a Starlight seeing a new video appreciating the bold artistry of VIXX. It is really hard to find a video on 2/2.5 gen idols, and their hard work to compete with gen 2 and to stay relevant through gen 3 and 4. The kpop idol industry just moves to fast to savor what idols like VIXX had to offer until they are in like hiatus. My favorite era of all time was Shangri-La cuz THOSE FAN CLAPS??? Asmr. Thank you for mentioning how detailed VIXX are with their albums like the contract and the perfume. Also thanks for mentioning the choreography because I love how many details VIXX include in the choreo that fit with the lyrics and the concept, Hyde and Fantasy are great examples. The choreo for Eternity also has a lot of details having to do with time and that's just some of the tittle tracks, their performances for their other songs are also something great to see.

I really want to thank you for all the effort and dedication you put into this video. It's good for our generation and the new ones to know that many of their idols can dress up and do many of their performances thanks to VIXX's courage in such a conservative and structured Korea. this was such a good video!! a mutual of mine on twitter retweeted it and as a lover of longform media analysis and discussion who loves and ults vixx, i had to watch it as soon as i saw it. i've been struggling to fill that vixx shaped hole in my heart since their enlistments started, and things like this are perfect to help fill that void. personally, my favorite title track of theirs is the closer, followed closely by chained up, but as a whole concept, i always return to eau de vixx. i started stanning them a few months before eau de vixx dropped so it was my first proper exposure to them, save for having seen whisper a year prior. i don't own a lot of vixx albums or merch, but what i do have, i treasure. eau de vixx was the first album of theirs i purchased as well, and i bought it en route to seeing ravi during his first us tour :P i'm excited to see what it will be like when they finally get to have a comeback after ravi and hyuk finish their enlistment, though it'll be bittersweet. i double bias hakyeon and hongbin, and i was very much present during the whole debacle before he left the group. it was painful to experience, but it's nice to see how good he's doing now and how vixx is doing, and how there have been subtle nods to him in their small video series for their 10th anniversary. this comment got very rambly, so my apologies, but i wanted to express how much things like this mean to me, and thank you for a job well done on this video.

TBH. I felt like there was a void when VIXX left the scene. No one did it like them and 4th gen groups seemed to moreso take the BTS route of having a permanent universe rather than engaging in strong and unique concepts. Honestly, I think ONEUS has gotten the closest and I hope they continue in VIXX's footsteps for the new gen! Starlight and ToMoon forever

They really could have rivaled BTS if their company had been smarter about their management. They were popular for very similar reasons as BTS (storytelling skills). They could have been their more fantastical counterpart. It's so sad seeing so many talented groups be ruined by their companies. Even big groups like blackpink are getting screwed over by their companies' stupid decisions.
