The highly inefficient 'loop' that emerged was a result of Rochor station ending up not being an interchange. The plans for a central station for the DTL were scrapped because of the NSC interfering with construction in Rochor.

The Circle Line and Downtown Line are also physically connected together at Bayfront station. The turnout connecting the 2 lines is just after the platform.

DTL is a very strange line, it's very inconvenient to transfer to other lines. All involved long challenging walk full of obstacles.

As a result the original opening of Circle Line to be completed, was delayed 5 years from 2005 to 2010 due to the 2004 Nicoll Highway collapse, and the Downtown Line finally opened in 2013.

To prevent the bus and train fare from increasing by 60 cents, plans have to be tweaked and changed even with Nicoll Highway collapse: CCL: Merger of Marina Line and LRT lines DTL: Merger of Bukit Timah Line, Downtown Extension and Eastern Region Line TEL: Merger of Thomson Line, part of Inner Circle Line, Central Line and Eastern Region Line JRL: Merger of Southwest Line (2008), Jurong Region Tram and part of Holland Line CRL: Merger of East West Line Extension (before realignment), Southwest Line (2008), Tampines Line (two of them) and North Coast Line SLL: Merger of Seletar Line and part of Thomson Line HLL: Merger of Holland Line [and that includes Esplanade/Nicoll Highway MRT as well], connecting the city and PLAB and Punggol North LRT

An additional curve of track was supposed to be built between Rochor & Jalan Besar stations, making DTL travel times faster, but never happened.

what would be interesting for this video would be a "follow up vid" accounting for the changes that happened between the video's original uploading date and today (depending on time of reading this)

I don't think there's really much to say that's new as of now, other than TEL Stage 4 is now open, so at most I would have re-animated that line to not be dotted. But because of some back-end issues with our working files, it'll be a huge hassle to get them working again, and I don't think it's worth it just to reanimate a small part...
