I just love the first minute of this, and how hard that guy is rocking out over his computer set up, playing that synthesized smooth jazz created for the corporate world. He is 100% focused and centered. Even Stuart Cheifet stomping in to introduce the show, over the top of this guy's incredible art, can't knock him out of the zone. Man. That is dedication to your craft!

the Commodore manager leak of appeals, he should focus on the SCSI 32bit hd inside (that was really fast, consider others were using slow EIDE no DMA...) and the possibility to expand the 68030 with FPU and other cards... that was the difference from the other Amigas...

The main weakness was that it was so expensive. Other than that it blew away both the wintel &macs

Listen to sad/listless "wow, wow, yeah, hmm, ahmm" from the CC team during middle of this interview! No real interests anymore. No more hope for Commodore/AMIGA.

I think Amiga's biggest problem, why it never reached te mainstream, was the video standard. When Commodore released the A3000 or even an earlier model, it should have moved to a SVGA compatible video system. What was ground breaking in 1985 was outright ugly in 1990. It was low resolution with a very ugly color scheme, massive flickering if you tried to go to a higher resolution, had very few compatible monitors with the 1084/(s) being the two major monitors which were tiny. By 1990, 14 or even 15" monitors were the norm. For all of the problems of program manager in Windows, it was still decent looking, even in 3.0 Had Commodore worked out a newer video system that was backward compatible but worked with SVGA it would have helped. Another thing was networking support. Commodore made no efforts to get into the small to medium sized office and by the time this aired, was on it's last legs.

tarstarkusz true. it really needed something basic like 800x600 72hz non-interlaced, which even AGA didn't offer when at the time you could buy a PC video (not even high end, just mid grade) card for like $75 that could do 1024x768 72hz 16bit color easily. if you had more spare change, cards upwards of 1600x1200 85hz 24 bit color were around by the early 90s. a lot of long-term amiga users left the scene once they tried using a PC with true high res flicker-free video. instead, amiga had all these weird ass resolutions like 320x1024 that nobody ever used.

oldtwins Commodore didn't even understand it's own market. Gamers weren't buying these multi-thousand dollar machines, these were the musicians, the animators and so on. Had they made another chip that was compatible with SVGA or even just put a SVGA card in the machine with an Amiga MUI layer they might have been where Apple is today. There was a pretty long window of time where Apple was vulnerable to a strong 3rd party that did well in small business and education and Commodore could have been that company. I think they thought they could keep Amiga going with just the NTSC and PAL people (using Amiga for credits and such).

+oldtwins A3000 DID have a non-interlaced 72hz 800x600 mode, but by then the chipset was outdated - being so highly integrated held it back. The original Amiga team worked on a super chipset back in '86 but C= canned it...
