They make a lot of these before the audience shows up, and pick ones they premade that best fit. Like they just say "Find a guy that looks like a celeb", then they use that on someone that looks like someone celebrity level. Not a piece of cake, but no, not all improvised

They do have a couple of hours to write. If you ever go to a taping. you usually wait for an 1-2 hours before the show starts. From getting in-line outside to sitting down and being entertained by a in-house comedian for 15- 20 minutes.

I'm so glad they resurrected these from SNL's past (season 1 jokes! yes, they used to do gags just like this, captioning audience members before and after commercials, in the early-70's but stopped suspiciously fast. I dunno why, it's hysterical! Probably something lame.)

Andy Richter isn't that great of an announcer, in my opinion. I understand that he sort of fills the role that Ed McMahon did on Carson, or Steve Higgins does on Fallon, but Andy's voice is too squeaky for my announcing tastes. But, then again, to each their own.
