As a kid, I was a huge Jarre fan and I remember that I was scanning through frequencies on my SW radio my godfather had given me one day and came across this station. I was happy to hear the song and was looking forward to more music in the same vein. Then I got random numbers.

Les Chants Magnétiques 1 just so happens to be one of my favorite songs. Knowing there's a numbers station of it somehow made it more enjoyable.

The tunneling effects added to the song by the shortwave give it a new dimension. Especially at 0:47, it's like it's going underwater foa bit for some reason.

It sounds like whoever originally recorded these were tweaking parameters on their receivers while recording. At 0:47 it sounds like the operator is narrowing the bandwidth for a just a moment. During the Gong Station Chimes one you can hear the operator change the BFO (I think that's what is happening there) when it goes all high-pitched for a moment before coming down near the beginning.
