Күн бұрын

Welcome to Episode 8 of the Mind the Game podcast with JJ Redick and LeBron James. We have a fantastic show for you all today covering all things 2024 NBA Playoffs. First up, we discuss Bronny James going through the combine and the NBA draft process and what it's like for LeBron as a father. Then we dive into the NBA Playoffs - starting with a conversation around the MVPs of these playoffs - the role players. Guys like Naz Reid, P.J. Washington, T. J. McConnel and more. Then we dive into the Eastern Conference Finals between Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers and Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics. We discuss why the Celtics are so difficult to guard and how Indiana makes defenses uncomfortable. Then we dive into the Western Conference Finals between Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves and Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks. LeBron and JJ discuss Ant and Luka's ability to go away from ballscreens like Dwyane Wade and how the Wolves make the court smaller with their defense. Finally, LeBron weighs in on the hate Caitlin Clark has gotten so far in the WNBA with the Indiana Fever.
Subscribe to Mind the Game with LeBron James and JJ Redick KZbin channel today for more NBA insight, analysis, highlights and more.

D Wade's execution of the 'Drive Away' move was one of the reason he aesthetically was such a smooth player, he executed that play to perfection every time! D wade one of my faves of all time! By the way, 5:17 , too funny how JJ explained the most complex play of all for a whole damn minute: The advanced pass 😂😂😂. I think we all get it when we hear the term (even if you don't play bball lol)
@jimmoore8951
@jimmoore8951 4 ай бұрын
Flash was great at getting to the hoop and finishing off the drive away but rejecting screens is nothing new and neither is the advance pass off an outlet pass to beat a team to the basket that might be slow getting back on D. Also, the pick and roll has always been the most basic play in 🏀 and drop/hedge/blitz/switching coverage are just KYP (know your personnel) options for the situation. The defensive rotations and counter moves offensively are what intrigues me now. I played in the throw it into the post and clear out days where there was a lot of 1-on-1, which was fun but this pace and space era is not just fun to play but more interesting to watch

Man, I feel irrelevant talking here, but first that logo for the podcast is fire. Second, I am not even kidding you, despite I don't understand most of the lexicon that is been used here, while knowing I played basketball for fun in my youth and still love it, you guys are hell of conversationalist and would have loved to meet you even though I wouldn't survive a second in your technical world. What I know for certain is that you speak my language, the language of people who think before they speak and do know what they are talking about, so we could connect on that level no matter the subject matter. Third, and I am not even lying, I took the time to come back to that podcast that JJ Redick is referring to when he speaks about Lebron's teammates hating on him. He does really talk about that in fact. And his guest did have quite a reaction to coach Paul Silas' quote. Man, thank you for showing to the world that, no matter the media, we still can do a hell of a job and still excel at it. That abreviation that Lebron came up with (FAT) though is so brilliant that it did in fact blew my mind and still does. Propos to you both for spreading the word of wisdom, whatever the subject matter may be. Peace

JJ and producers! Please please, do not feel “rushed” about breaking down the game/coverages/actions. You mentioned that in the beginning and that is 1 of the many things that makes you guys unique! No one really cares to break down the game like this nor as knowledgeable. So don’t feel bad. I love basketball and this is one of the first times I’m getting nba level education about the game. Please never switch up on that, love the pod thus far!!!
