Steve Jaros recently revealed that the concept of Ben King and Julius forming the Vice Kings was the original pitch for SR2. I would have love to have seen that but I’m very happy with the the SR2 we got. Plus the original pitch for SR3 was about the playa surfacing from the water and going to Japan to take on the west side rollers buyer, the Ronin.

Personally i like to think that after the events of Saints row 2, the player overdosed on loa dust and got stuck in the worst of bad trips. This way it also covers why the games got wackier and wackier up until the point where he is fighting aliens, traveling time in a simulation and trying to pay off his student loans.

I would just love to safely assume that: SR1 took place in 2006, then went into a 5 year coma and woke up in 2011, even though the music in the radio stations sounds like the setting is in the 2000s in SR2. Then 3 years later, then became international celebrities in SR3, in 2014, then 5 years later, even though the presidential elections don’t finish in 2019, SR4 started and after how Gat Outta Hell ended, the OG Universe ended in 2020 basically and the Agents of Mayhem universe started. Everything that happened before 2013 was a coma dream by the Playa, he then came out of a Coma and became president, he then had a dream that the Zin invaded, after that the Playa got rid of Cancer or World Hunger, the Zin then invaded in real life, Everything after that was a simulation. Saints Row 3, killing Zinyak, all of it was a simulation that the Playa was never able to escape from. I think that about covers it all, if I missed something then let me know so I can fit it in.

SR3 was cool, but it could’ve been so much better. Saints Row 1 you’re recruited into the saints. The saints were competing to take over the city. After Stilwater was taken over, Julius saw that nothing had really changed and disbands the Saints. Julius knew playa wouldn’t walk away like dex , so he tried to have him killed, and Troy attempted to have Johnny Gat locked up. Playa woke up from his coma as the evil, destructive man he’s always been. Playa then eliminates the new gangs who took over Stilwater, took out Ultor as well, and is back on top. This would’ve been a perfect set up for Saints Row 3. The downfall of Playa. Don’t judge tho cause a foo off a 12 pack of modelos rn

I believe saints row 2 takes place in 2009 and saints row the third takes place in 2014, because remember if you look at the one of the cutscenes in saints row 2, dane vogal has a interview about ultor gangs etc, and said something along the lines of "this is saints row, 3 years ago" implying that the events in saints row 1 happened 3 years ago, so saints row 2 takes place in 2009 and if saints row the third happens 5 years later it would take place in 2014 respectively.

To be fair, that TV interview could have been broadcasted at any point between the games. If anything the opening cutscene with all those scenes is retelling events that took place between 2006 - 2011

That is true, I thought the same thing too when I was younger, but the game officially takes place 5 years after SR1, you have to realize the game was released in 2008, during a time when that music was still prevalent, and 2011 was just the beginning of the 2010s, we didn't really see transitions and big changes from the 2000s until at least 2012, everyone uses smartphones in SR2 also which is more accurate to 2011 setting.

Someone discovered what year is was when the boss was in highschool through a piece of dialogue in one of the games. It was referring to one of the many songs in the game that have special dialogue attached to them in missions where 2 or more characters sing them. I think it was "That's what I got" but I can't remember exactly. Also the ages match up with saints row IV where the boss become president. The minimum age required to be a USA president is 35. Edit: the introduction to the boss being president states "5 Years later" suggesting the boss was 30 when Cyrus was killed, and cyrus' death being in 2015. There is plenty of evidence to go around suggesting the dates in the more modern SR games. Like Matt saying he found the ouija board while going through Zinyaks artifacts in GOOH suggesting this is pretty close to the time of his demise in sr4. Considering its kinzies birthday at the time of GOOH we can probably find kinzies age if we find Zinyaks death day. Dunno why it would be important but at least we would have facts like these to try and clarify the year a bit better. I'll do some more searching for evidence and I will update this comment if I find any. Update: I found it. I searched the cribs of srtt and found a calender. With a clear as day date on it. In saints row the third ( I used remastered) there is a calender in the saints hq kitchen. March 2003. Srtt takes place in 2003 and if we're assuming Cyrus died the same year then SR4 takes place in 2008. A perfect leap year for a presidential election. This also means matt miller was born in 1987 if he was indeed born 16 years before srtt Edit: I'm realising this one texture completely shoots down EVERY piece of the current timeline found on the wiki. How could aishi release a debut album while she was dead? Is this one piece of evidence going to remove everything we had? Possibly as it is a calender showing a YEAR

It just kinda popped in my somewhat drunken mind...maybe the reason the timeline is a bit messed up and why each subsequent Saint Row game gets crazier and crazier is that the "Playa" never woke up from their coma. And that saints row 2-gat out of hell are all just a giant coma dream and while some of the facts are true, the Playa wasn't involved and merely overheard them and subconsciously put them into the Playas dream narrative...which dreams don't always make total sense. Tl:Dr Saints Row 2 thru Gat out of hell are just a coma dream of the Playa with some true things happening just out of place and without the Playa's interaction.

Not a shot. Saints Row 3 doesn't take place directly after 2, a few years go by. And 4 takes place five years after its intro mission, which would mean it's AT LEAST five years following the third game.
