We're told continuously that Grievous is this dangerous killing machine that leaves no survivors, but then in the movies he's constantly fleeing or not directly participating in combat. Then when he does fight - an admittedly very cool fight against Kenobi - he loses. I feel like Grievous in the movies and a large part of the Clone Wars show is such wasted potential. He is so freaking cool, I just wish they knew how to use him. How he's described in this lore video is very sick.

The Council were basically just Sith allies. They had no real interest in the CIS cause, and from a logical standpoint, the CIS actually should oppose them ideologically. The Parliament and Separatist citizens probably just tolerated the council, because the Council were, at the end of the day, mostly made up the same people that the CIS had formed in opposition of. It just shows how blindly the people loved Dooku, and I suppose rightfully so, because aside from us, the viewers, and a relatively small group of others, no one knew just how bad he had become under Palpatine and they still thought he was the enlightened guy he was before he became a sith
@pancakes8670
@pancakes8670 Ай бұрын
The one issue here is that the people didn't know the Council existed. That's what a Shadow Government is, it's basically an "Illuminati". To the average CIS citizen, there was only the Senate with Dooku serving as a Military Dictator.

I wonder if it's a subtle reference to the ACW where the five states that listed slavery as a reason for secession out of thirteen were also all run by former Whig party members, former close allies of Abe Lincoln, in direct contradiction to the more common Jeffersonian Democrat ideals of the other seceding states.
@tk-6967

@@tau-5794 Interesting idea, but I doubt the CIS are actually based on the IRL CSA that heavily. Yes, it is possible the lore writers misinterpreted Lucas' vision like they did with the Empire, but I am pretty sure he did write that there are 'heroes on both sides' and the designs for CIS ships were deliberately supposed to be more similar to the Rebel Alliance to show nuance, so I kind of doubt an indisputably negative rebellion like the CSA was intended to be the inspiration for the CIS.

Well Grievous technically outranks her and this is probably only a bit after he crushed her and durge single-handedly so she might have still been wary of him. Though once grievous started losing to people is when that wariness sort of went away given that with the Jedi (given that he made quite the name for himself) he lost intimidation and unorthodoxy with the masters which Dooku noted were his primary advantages and that he should retreat if they were lacking.

What? In most of Legends and simply from the numbers alone the CIS wouldn't have even had to properly fight if it hadn't all been arranged, the Republic didn't even have an army for thousands of years until dear Chancellor Palpatine pulled one out of his ass when the Senate was in full panic mode.
@stuglife5514
@stuglife5514 Ай бұрын
@@semi-useful5178 Yea, but PDFs were still a thing. Plenty of militarized and industrialized planets that would have no issue conscripting, feeding, clothing, training, and equipping troops. Anaxes, Kuat, and corellia are great examples of that. There’s still a fighting chance. Plus, logistics are important. The republic had better logistics regardless of the clone army or not due to its industrial base but also it’s positioning with a defensive war. The CIS needs twice the ammount of raw resources a organic army needs, less settled systems spread over larger areas of space, and fighting a mostly offensive war up until the end, there’s no real way the CIS could have conquered the republic. Fought to a bloody stalemate? Sure. Won their independence? Sure. But I don’t think it would be a trounce. There’s plenty of examples of the much larger opfor loosing because they don’t have the home turf advantage, like the republic would have in its own space. The CIS economy couldn’t keep up a wartime economy like the republic could, they simply don’t have enough biological organisms working jobs to keep the econemy stimulated, keep the CIS army funded and operational, and wage a offensive war on the republic

I loved the video, but does anyone know the actual names of the music tracks used, I can't find them anywhere in the channel linked in the description side from that, this was very well made and detailed, I can appreciate that, though I do disregard all Disney add-ons to this timeline, I do appreciate the effort all the same

To keep it simple, Dooku through his words was given full control of the CIS, the Council (the business leaders) had plenty of personal sway since it ws literally their armies fighting the war, I'm pretty certain the COuncil and Dooku pulled enough strings and put out propaganda to make the Senate thing they had a lot of influence. We see this with how ignorant they seemd to be of the literal attricities and evil acts their military officers like Grevious, Ventress, Trench, or Rif Tamsen did.

One thing I've never grasped is how separated the CIS was from their army and war. The living beings of many planets had valid grievances but how did they just carry on with their lives not knowing who controls, funds or leads "their" "armies"? Like "hey we don't like the republic" and conveniently the techno Union and trade federation come in and are like okay we'll fund and build a war and battle droids giving command to a murderous rage fueled cyborg and don't worry about how the wars going or what we're doing🤪. ??? They just sat in their comfy planets shielded from war while their battle droids wreaked havoc and terrorized the galaxy? Enslaved and exterminated populations, bled planets of resources and used live shields as a deterrent?

Actually the command structure for the war was simple, Sidious commanded both sides.

On a macro level sure, but both organizations still had to be manuveried in manners that went beyond what Sidious could influence on his own.

I'm going to type this before watching the video Palpatine is a sith lord. His apprentice is Count Dooku Palpatine has a Sith assasin called Darth Maul Count Dooku has an assasin called Asajj Ventress Count Dooku is the leader (Primeminnister?) of the confederacy of independent planets The banking plan, techno union, trade federation are members of the separatist movement, however they deal with both the separatists and the republic The leader of the CIS army is General Grievous There are many Admirals for the CIS army, one is admiral Trench The CIS uses Droid generals, (Square head and weird mustache thing going on) Commander droids are marked with yellow Regular battle droids are the typical foot solider of the CIS Nute Gunray is the leader of the trade federation Lock Dood, Is a experimental weapons officer for the Trade federation Watt Tambor is the leader of the Techno Union Pretty sure that sums it all up

The CIS Parliament was a powerless body. Dooku lead the confederacy how Sidious wanted him to and prosecuted the war how Sidious wished. There, I cleared it for you.
@SeparatistShadowfeed

That is nothing more but Republic and Imperial propaganda, the Separatist Parliament was reduced in scale of influence to prevent a massive bureaucracy from dominating the affairs of the individual star systems seeking to be free to make decisions for themselves. The Confederacy of Independent Systems was cut short by larger agents, though it shall rise again.

Question: why did grevious listen to sidious if he wasn't a sith?
@kingorange7739
@kingorange7739 Ай бұрын
Because Grievous was aware of Sidious as the secret leader behind the Separatists and operated to aid his design in wiping the Jedi out. Grievous wasn't really a Separatist and more cared about bringing about the destruction of the Republic and Jedi.
