There's a short story in White Dwarf 493 called the Vintner's Manse that gives us a direct showing of how this works. A famous winemaker in Hammerhal hasn't been seen in days, Callis and Toll go to investigate his house, and things happen.

The neferata stuff reminds me of a story from a warhammer horror anthology where a cities of sigmar team of jobbers are sent into a cities deep sewers where theres a sentient fungus connected to allariel turning humans into sporebombs to infest the city and people thought gw were going to make the sylvaneth a villainous order faction for a while.

Also, its worth noting that whatever is left of the "feasts" in the wake of a ghoul/Court, it benefits other Death factions in various ways. For the Ossiarchs they get a supply of bones, the Soulblight can raise wights and zombies from the remains, and lastly the Nighthaunts are created in the aftermath from the anguished souls of the causalities of those feasts.

The story I would like to see is a flesh eater court building in a city while a force of death under a generic vampire under Neoherata's orders, told from the point of view of the city's high military commander. I had thought out a whole story arch for the flesh eater court the military leader of the city and the vampire just sitting outside waiting for the gates to open.

Just to supplement with a little old world lore here: Neferata is actually the older sister of Ushoran. Back then, what made the Strigori different from regular vampires, was that they were hunted as outcasts, because of a salty Neferata spreading rumours, and since they thought feasting on humans would rise too much suspicion, the vampires started eating corpses from graveyards. I kinda like that version a bit more, that the vampires look so different, because they eat dead flesh, instead of fresh blood. Rather than the version where they just drank Ushorans blood. Vampires that have been dealt a bad hand because of their silly court intrigue, are forced to leave the "pretty facade" behind, and go into hiding, turning to robbing graveyards for meat, instead of the fresh blood, which in turn make them monsters. Sort of like the Gorgers in Ogor Mawtribes, malnutritioned vampires turned beastial.

I can see this working pretty well, the carrion king get more warriors, and neferate would get some good points with nagash... make sense since the two have an long level of history, rumors state the carrion king was the blood queen brother once. fun bit of trivia for you. back in the old world lore, neferata, after becoming the first vampire, turned ushoran and made him her spymaster. they were heavily connected prior to AOS.

I'm thankful for this video because it helped me explicitly express something that bothers me about settings like AOS in general, which is how passive or monodimensional the good factions are. In the case of evil factions we have all kinds of schemes, machinations, slow erosion of the enemies, etc. Case in point, Tzeentch cults and the Neferata blood game shown here. The order factions, however, as far as I'm aware, have nothing of the sort, except maybe a bit of sabotage or spying. As far as I'm aware, there's no one seeding resistance cells or slowly purifying chaos cults, or infusing death repositories with life magic that will fully bloom at a crucial point, nothing. They just go forth, conquer, and then sit in their cities waiting for them to be corrupted, infiltrated, etc. I think that's a huge waste of opportunities for interesting narrative.

Regarding your mention of Khorne, i think the most obvious avenue to explore for his influence is not things like fight clubs but the concept of social justice and indignation. And im surprised that no one is talking about that yet. Because when you think about it, what would a passionate social justice advocate feel - especially when hostile powers meet their pleas with more oppression? Righteous anger! Whether it's a mortal slave caste rising up against their vampire tyrants, a society having enough of the pollution and habitat destruction wreaked by something like Greywater Fastness, gender-based oppression, blatant oligarchy, animal cruelty, collusion between criminals and rulers, a group of commanders incensed at the incompetence or neglect of their superiors before or during a siege or campaign.... there are so many exciting possibilities for Khorne to turn a righteous cause into an evil one and corrupt a society from the inside, and it could be from the perspective of either the ones oppressed or those sympathetic to them. But i havent seen that explored yet!
