My bets are they leave Shadowkin & Malerion vs Tyrion towards the middle of 4th AoS to set-up AoS5 because that’ll be Order vs Death again and Broken Realms teased Malerion having agents there seemingly holding important Alarith souls he plans on bargaining with tithe Lumineth gods to leave the path between Hysh & Ulgu alone(and under Ulgu power). With how tight things are I wouldn’t be surprised if AoS3 does more of those Ironjawz supplements for other sub-factions to beef up main factions like Gholemkind allies for Kharadron.

I love how they connect khaul and vandis since they where the earliest heros in first edition, also nice detail of ionis bieng the original relic priest, also I really feel like there would be an good moment of vandis saying "KHUL!!!!!!!!!" Aslo as an note... something is coming, first there are rumours of the carrion king return, and now the deepkin are attacking, why do i have the feeling this has something to do with kaine or the shadow king?

I think that was for the best with the Khorne champions - they dated from an era when AoS named characters were mostly just names attached to generic characters, hence having a named Bloodsecrator and a Bloodstoker just because they happened to be the 'lieutenant' character models in the boxed set that began AoS. i don't see any particular reason the leader of Fuethan had to die, but then again why not? He at least got more of a sendoff than the others. And it's not clear to me if Bael-Grimnir survived or not - if he did, wouldn't he have been there with melted limbs when Trugg woke up?

I'm ambivalent about the Blacktalons taking a major story role - I rather liked them as a random group of Stormcast (and one Idoneth) whose adventures don't really matter to the narrative as a whole and so can be used by the animation team and Black Library with more freedom.v

Been noticing the effort you put in to get the video pictures to match up with what you’re talking about to set the mood. Excellent work and then some! 👌 Agreed on what feels like they’re gearing up for a AoS1 4.0 set. I think people would be eager to see Vandus, Khul and their forces they lead to launch AoS given big overhauls in designs to show how far they, the game and GW’s design techniques have advanced through the years. ⚡️ 💥 🩸 Also to be fair to Deepkin if anyone’s gonna break treaties it’d be the Fuethán who are infamous for they and their hungry fish depleting coastline populations as they surge from boiling seas of Aqshy. They’re the greyest sub-faction matching Knights Excelsior, Dreadwoods, Greywater fastness war profiteers, Barak-Mhornar pirates, etc who cause trouble.

Well it’s very appreciated! 👍 Try googling “AoS Well of Eternity”, it’s an art collection blog that’s been going since AoS first dropped in 2015. Lots of amazing pieces sorted by book. (Just make sure when pressing the Godbeast links you hit the foreign language ones, the English translated ones double posted the same art thread so you’ll miss out on the first half of the Godbeast book art)

I think the dark figure Vandus sees in his visions could actually be Ionus. My guess: It turns out that Vandus has been damaged too far by his reforgings and crosses the line in Book 4, like openly rebelling against direct orders from Sigmar or doing something else very stupid in his relentless hunt for Khul. Which results in him being severly damaged, tainted by Chaos or realizing how far he had fallen, even if he manages to kill the master of the bloodtide. Enter the stage Ionus, who has realized that Vandus is too broken and cannot be redeemed anymore, and sorrowfully "spirits away" (permakills) his old friend, as he seemingly has done with other too broken Stormcasts before. Which would be a bittersweet ending to the tale of Vandus Hammerhand.

I dont know i expected i bit more from this series of books, its just one(two actually) crusades that encounter stuff but it doesnt move the narrative at all, save for the last book(i hope), which is good but we were spoiled with Broken realms in which every book had Major storylines advanced and was great! This series combined is more like a single Black library book, which is good, but I prefered the Broken realms style of narrative. Of course this has absolutely nothing to do with your video, i LOVE your way of telling a story and i am so happy every time i see a new AoS video of yours, the way you narrate a story is great, engaging and it makes me love the AoS setting even more(i'm also loving the new horus heresy series, you are just too good at explaining stories), i am grateful for your amazing job, keep it up please!

Having now read this book I don't really get that complaint. I'd expected this to be a low-key series, but they've set up Kragnos' fall to end the Era of the Beast, much as Broken Realms saw the end of the Necroquake storyline, and they've set up a lot of characters to have major roles, some new and some who haven't been seen for a long time. Ushoran is going to show up next book, and whichever crusade succeeds will found a city which could well go on to have the story importance of some of the existing major cities. The Skaven attack on Hammerhal mentioned at the end of book 2 and briefly alluded to in book 3 could well be set up for the 4th Ed. boxed set if rumours are to be believed. Broken Realms by contrast was a damp squib which appears to have had no real consequences for anyone except Nagash. Morathi became a goddess, which appears to have had no impact on her abilities or role whatsoever and she took Anvilgard without any consequences seemingly either for her or the Sigmarites. Her alliance with Volturnos hasn't gone anywhere, if only because the story writers appear to be affected by Idoneth magic and so routinely forget they exist. Be'lakor's Cursed Skies were immediately countered by Thunderstrike armour and no impacts on Stormcast numbers has been alluded to. Kragnos showed up and was whisked through a portal, whereupon he was barely mentioned again until now. Grungni appeared and, likewise, has hardly been mentioned since while the duardin just get on with their lives. The only lasting impact of the series other than Teclis' defeat of Nagash was the Rite of Life, which was was almost a footnote in the books themselves.

I really wouldn't. One of the most epic things of AOS is the colorful factions of order working together despite differences. Like dark aelves arriving in excelsis to help beat back Kragnos and destruction invasion or dawnbringers having fyreslayers and dok with them like HOW COOL IS THAT? Inject that straight into my veins!!

I'm honestly wondering if the Grand Alliance system is outdated at this point. It made sense back in the early days of AoS when Chaos was dominant, but there's more balance between the forces now. Back in the old world, nobody was on any kind of permanent alliance; dark elves both fought and embraced chaos occasionally, the empire and dwarves got into it every now and then, and of course the tomb kings hated the vampire counts. It might be time to dissolve the Grand Alliances and let the realms descend into all out war.

Eh, they can go all out war even with it. Just helps knowing who stands where and not a group left out in the back by themselves. Plus just an easy meta way to organize warmasters, mercenaries and the store fronts same as they have “imperium, space marines, chaos, xenos” to mirror it in 40k.

As an aside…I wouldn’t relish having to site sources and explain to newcomers(especially from 40k) why despite the mutants & blood worship Khainites are an Order aligned faction. I can already imagine the complaints why all the free cities have shadow temples, Sigmar pardoning their actions and they even work with Seraphon to root out chaos cults when they look just as evil to an outside view. Being able to tape the big Order sign to explain they Lawful Evil to represent Civilization needing sacrifices to function is so much easier.

It's definitely outdated. Factions now have specific ally options - none currently ally outside their Grand Alliance outside than mercenary gargants, but the option exists to add off-Alliance allies. And there are factions whose members could span Alliances. Sylvaneth are a clear example: they don't seem to build cities unlike other Order factions and the Forest Folk are mostly naked daemon-like things bedecked in skulls, with the territoriality, violent dislike of anyone else on their turf, and probably about the same social complexity as orruks. All they want is to tear things down to let plant life consume the ruins. They, the Outcasts and the Kurnothi both are closer to forces of Destruction than Order, yet Alarielle and her Noble Spirits are pretty firmly Order-aligned. That said, there's no real common cause in the lore as it stands between most of the factions within an alliance, and not every subfaction is necessarily going to abide by the diplomatic agreements of others. There are Idoneth enclaves who don't recognise Ionrach authority and so wouldn't be bound by the non-aggression pact with Sigmar or the alliance with Morathi. This storyline alone has had Drycha in conflict with Cities against Alarielle's wishes. Fyreslayers are mercenaries and while basically always portrayed as the good guys can conceivably ally with anyone against anyone. Morathi conquered Anvilgard. Destruction factions fight among themselves all the time. None of the Chaos gods gets on well with the others and the Skaven and Beasts of Chaos are entirely separate from the god-worshipping Chaos factions. Death is the most unified, because while Nagash is active the three actually undead factions are forced to do his will, but Neferata and Mannfred are engaged in a cold war and both would presumably fight for resources and control with the Ossiarch - Cado's overblown antics included defeating an Ossiarch army, though as ever Black Library is noncanon. One of the Warcom stories recently featured a Bonereaper army that Belthanos intercepted while it was on its way to try and stop Ushoran's escape (presumably unsuccessfully, since as of the end of this book he's in Ghyran having left Charnelcourt). FEC were also in conflict with Bonereapers (and so effectively on the same side as the Lumineth, though they never fought together) in Broken Realms.
