Hey Rick, it's good to see you back again posting videos. I've had that exact issue trying to mask off interior parts, after cleaning and prepping it's like laying a piece of paper on the areas, the tape just falls off! I will have to try the adhesion promoter. The poly "vinyl" really is terrible, we are running into more and more of that in automotive interiors. I replaced that same outer perforated panel on a Mercedes today, with some REAL perforated vinyl! I don't do much furniture work, but the polyurethane material seems to be used much more there, and as someone else mentioned in RVs too. And airplanes, I've had to replace the Ultraleather which is apparently a poly material, it just falls apart after a while. We have discussed the MTE show, for the interior repair techs it's really not even worth going to unless you just want to take a vacation to Orlando. There are only a few interior repair vendors, the TE show is now focused on paint, detailing, PDR, wheel repairs. Interior repair / refinishing is almost just an afterthought. As always thanks for all you do and for sharing your knowledge.

I purchased a "leather" couch and loveseat over 20 years ago for $1200 -- a lot of money back then. I took your advice and checked the tag and it says "polyurethane", no mention of leather at all. I can't believe I've been duped all this time. It started peeling this year, which I thought strange. Now it all makes sense. I am thankful that it lasted this long though.

Honda vehicles are notorious for this.

RV/motorhomes are just as bad.

i have a massage chair much like the example, i had to find leather that matches and sew over the old broken bits, i used an old singer boot patcher machine which is human powered. the company told me to pound sand for a replacement and seems to be a generic Chinese mass produced and sold under many brand names. for a car though i wish there was truth in what we buy or i had the money for real leather seats made by a professional like the good old days of bench and bucket seats that were plain, i do like the kidney wrapping or( anti shake the heck out of them) seats in my old age, though they dont hold up to the rigors of daily driving. or simply make a better synth product, though this is a throw away world sadly.
