Those are the types of repairs that we run into very often. I don't think you mentioned it but we do a LOT of similar repairs on door panels, caused by theft damage when they break the glass out. Your texturing technique is very good. Thanks for posting those useful and practical repair methods that everyone should be doing. And I like the music as always!

I find your videos extremely helpful. I also use superior restoration repair products. And was hoping for some guidance on what water base color that you use and where can I purchase it. Thanks, Chuck.

Thank you Chuck. From the beginning I've wanted to benefit the industry as a whole. So I've been encouraging everyone to contact their current supplier with questions about products.

Will have to try this, I usually sand with 400 and leather fill, will have to try super glue and 220 grit and I thought the color was charcoal gray. Learn something new again.

Hey A.R.T, question, would it not be beneficial to use a 'glue activator' spray (like on your silver interior trim repairs) to ensure that the glue hardens into the crevices?
@a.r.t.srealrepairsforrealc8247 Жыл бұрын
You wouldn't want to use it during the process because the wet glue grabs the sanding dust. And, in this case, there is so little glue that it's already cured by the time we finish the repair. If you felt the need to activate it after the base repair is completed there wouldn't be anything wrong with that I suppose. On the Honda dash the accelerator was used to speed up the filling process. Thanks!

I will have to try these repairs next time.. are there any specific glues that are more *preferable* to these types of jobs? Or does cyanoacrylic work either way. Thanks! @@a.r.t.srealrepairsforrealc8247

Can you add the names of the products you used, especially the plastic coat.

I believe it's water base plastic primer used for the graining and that should be available from various suppliers, and he said that he was using medium viscosity superglue to fill in the scratches.

@mttmg I kinda figured that was what he was using as far as the plastic primers goes I just wanted to make sure.

Dash repairs are in highly visible areas. I price the job so that I am comfortable taking the time needed to do precision work. In the end everyone is happy.
