The food scenes. I enjoyed how food can make statements about the characters who describe, order, and eat it in this film. Oldman eating rare steak, doubling down and aggressively cutting and chewing it is what he is about. He attacks it, he doesn't break with eating it, or rarely takes his eyes off it. He treats people he wants to control like he does that raw stake. Jeff Bridges, him describing the oatmeal cookies, how good they are, and suggesting Oldman's character try it. You don't know how good it is, his decision in choosing Joan's character as VP, she's good, different, but give her a chance. He never ate the cookie, and he never liked his choice in VP. Food was a supporting role, underlying role. Even Shelley trying to force Joan to eat rare steak, he ordered for her when they met at lunch. She stood her ground. She doesn't eat red meat. She's not like him, she is not going to go along with him and cowtow to his controlling her eating habits. She said no thank you to him, and his controlling her by forcing raw steak down her throat. Just my opinion... and everytime Jeff describes those cookies I want to go and get some oatmeal cookies.

Slater always puts that 'cherry on the cake" when acting in any kind of movie. Period.

Just finished watching this film. It is a really good movie, with some dialogue thar would have been right at home on a Sorkin political drama.

This is a good movie. Prob best thing ive seen sam elliot do. And he did it without his caterpillar mustache. But a warning this movie has the most annoying scenes of people eating in it. Its full of lip smacking, chewing, gulping, swallowing, and talking with mouths full. Im surpised they didnt fart and belch too. Theres a scene with gary oldman eating a steak while talking... u just want him to stop. Id never thought gary oldman would ever got on my nerves but that did.

Ha! When I think of this movie (which I like very much) I think about Jeff Bridges eating or ordering food in every scene. Now I have to watch to see whole cast doing it.
