souslicer I’ve definitely shed a few tears multiple times to this song, particularly during the clean guitar solo w/ the jazz key changes but DUDE this Stargazer is sick! I’m so glad I followed your link maybe they will fill my Means End (rip) void haha 🤘🏽

This album needs a remaster soooooo bad. Sometimes I feel the mix holds back the potential intensity and impact of tracks like this one.
@derka62628 жыл бұрын
I don't know man I kinda dig the mix on this album. Gives it character, but that's just my opinion.
@Demiurge668 жыл бұрын
This is indeed in need of a desperate remaster and this is the first time I'm hearing this song a better mix can make this song 10x better. Especially in 2016 going on 2017 were a mix like this is below the standards.
@WillBallForSoup8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the synth is too strong and takes over the grove/djent riffs. Could also be my speaker quality...
@Shad0wz698 жыл бұрын
mix is good mastering should be better the average volume for this album is so much more quiet than language
@Brave_New_Tube8 жыл бұрын
Shad0wz69 I can kinda hear that, it makes sense. Honestly the more I listen to this the more I appreciate it for what it is. I wouldn't be opposed to a remaster, but if we dont get one, then I'm content with what we've got 👍👍 Edit: And the more I listen to this track, the more I'm convinced its my favorite by them 🤘

The manner in which The Contortionist combine instruments to create a unique sound is remarkably refreshing, yet reminiscent of old-school prog elements. Their progression from Exoplanet to Language reminds me of Opeth's progression from My arms, your hearse to Blackwater Park and later albums.

This video is possibly much deeper than many of us realize, he is "dreaming" yet having a seizure while sleeping, but in "reality" he is on an operating table and he dies in the real world, so his animation in our existence dies as well, but in the form of a seizure which could be a direct effect from his brain shutting down in the real world, and thus the ending in reality he sees the operating light last and in a tunnel vision of sorts, whereas many have described death here in the "dream" as seeing a light at the end of a darkness or tunnel.

contortionist is that one metal band that just gets me. 1:57 onwards is too much to take in sometimes. such a wave of emotion and innocent free willed thinking takes over. most of their songs have that effect on me. what an incredible fucking band i like how lessard came in. he was nice new step for contortionist but wish Johnathan was still in it. he was the fucking man with those cleans

vivek thomas Yes and now.Can Michael sing better than John?Yes.But does his particular style really fit Contortionist?I suppose that's a matter of personal taste,I for on really like Mike Lessard but not so much in Contortionist.John had this very minimalistic approach to his cleans that worked perfectly and his harsh vocals were fucking perfect,something Mike really lacks unfortunately.
@Posirep9 жыл бұрын
TheCzar93 Not sure he "lacks" it as much as he just doesnt use his harsh vocals. The mix of cleans and harsh were perfect on Last Chance To Reason's Level 2 album and the fact he almost abandons the harsh vocals for Level 3 kind of makes that album seem kind of boring and dragging in alot of places....then again, musically that album is not as interesting as Level 2 so that has a bit to do with it too.

The best part about them is that they combine such great amount of emotion with weird time signature changes so flawlessly that you can just listen to the song and not know WTF is going on until you decide to pay some academic attention! It adds so many layers of enjoyment! Kinda reminds me of the flawlessness of the classic song Take 5 by Dave Brubeck. Absolutely natural sounding, just that this is more complex. They are progressive without showing off and neither do they have any need to!
