@@toddhill7483 I have a lot of stories about Roy, I was supposed to do a documentary for him in the early 2000’s after he piased the BBC off heh they approached him to do one on him. He sent them a long winded email which was typical Roy, the email outlined how he wanted the documentary done and after that the BBC passed. I was good friends with this George Fort when I lived in NYC, he was good friends with Roy and he did all the artwork for Roy’s album “The Dream Society” and he was good friends with Roy. Roy approached us it’s all these crazy ideas for the documentary and we were all in, he even flew George out to his home in Cork, Ireland to discuss it all, but then he pulled the plug because he though nobody would be interested in as he was still alive, he thought it would have more interest after he passed. He’s really and odd bird, a little bit off his rocker too. He ended up telling George a few stories and one of them was a story about when he was invited to David Gilmour’s 50th birthday party which was held at some swanky place in London and Rory started having a conversation with Gilmour and he then said to him half jokingly “When am I going to get paid for singing have a cigar?” then went on to say how much that album made and he didn’t see anything from it. Gilmour’s response was “Roy, why are you such a wanker.?”. Apparently, Roy left the party and the two never spoke again after that. He is still good friends with Jimmy Page though and Jimmy Performed with him at his 70th birthday show. I have to say, from getting to know him, he was his worst enemy most of the time, he’s still kicking at 83 though. He wasn’t supposed to live into his 30’s as he had a rare genetic disorder which did not allow enough oxygen to be produced in his blood cells which prevented oxygen from going to his heart and lungs, he had an experimental surgery which very thin wires were placed into his lungs to help oxygenate his blood vessels and it worked. I still like a lot of Roy’s music, but after having to deal with him personally, it became the old adage “don’t meet your heroes”.

Led Zeppelin I - Your Time is Gonna Come (Boring!) 2. Led Zeppelin II - Thank You (I agree it's not a convincing love song. That song was written for Plant's wife, Maureen. What is and What Should Never Be was written for his ex-girlfriend and Plant's younger sister, Shirley. I think Shirley got the better end of that deal.) 3. Led Zeppelin III - Hats off to Roy Harper (I listen to and think WTF is this?!) 4. Led Zeppelin IV - Misty Mountain Hop (This is one of my favorite albums of all time. I don't hate this song, but it meanders a bit for me.) 5. Houses of the Holy - The Crunge (I agree, Plant's vocals kill what could've been a decent song.) 6. Presence - Royal Orleans (I so dislike this album, sorry. This song is just annoying!) 7. ITOD - Hot Dog (I hate country, rockabilly, whatever. I hate it even more when Zeppelin does it.) 8. Coda - Darlene (Did someone say it's a bad version of Southbound Saurez? That's what I think.)

The Lemon Song and What Is What Should Never Be on the lower end while Heartbreaker, Bring It on Home and Ramble On are runners-up to Whole Lotta Love. Okay, here's my list: ** LZ Favorites for each album: Led Zeppelin I - Communication Breakdown Led Zeppelin II - Whole Lotta Love Led Zeppelin III - Immigrant Song Led Zeppelin IV - When the Levee Breaks HOTH - Over the Hills and Far Away Physical Graffiti - Kashmir Presence - Nobody's Fault but Mine ITTOD - Fool in the Rain Coda - Wearing and Tearing ** LZ Favorites (Runners-Up) Led Zeppelin I - Dazed and Confused Led Zeppelin II - Ramble On (toughest pick) Led Zeppelin III - Bron-Y-Aur Led Zeppelin IV - Four Sticks (semi-tough) HOTH - The Ocean (Hands down) Physical Graffiti - Trampled Under Foot (tough call) Presence - Run for Your Life ITTOD - In the Evening Coda- We're Gonna Groove As I said, Led Zeppelin II was the toughest one. Led Zeppelin IV the two I picked are my absolute favorites, but I really love Rock and Roll, Black Dog and Stairway to Heaven. Physical Graffiti was between Trampled Under Foot and The Rover. Some of these picks were harder than most. The rest were relatively easy for me.

I almost picked Dazed and Confused for that reason, but You Shook Me is just worse.) - Whole Lotta Love (I just don't like that middle section. I think this song could have been chopped in half and been much better.) - Hats Off to (Roy) Harper (I don't think this needs an explanation.) - Stairway to Heaven (Not a bad song, but if I was going to skip one song on IV, this would probably be it.) - No Quarter (This one always seemed like a demo to me. Just when it seems like it's going somewhere, it doesn't.) - Bron-Yr-Aur (Like Stairway, not a bad song, but the only one on the album I never think about. It's like they said, "Hey, we need to fill another two minutes on this side" and just threw this on.) - Tea For One (I may have only listened to this whole song once or twice. It's just not my thing.) - I'm Gonna Crawl (I like it better than Tea For One, but it's another one I rarely listen to and if I do, it's just because I was doing something that prevented me from skipping it.) - I Can't Quit You Baby (Why wasn't "Hey, Hey What Can I Do" included instead of a live cover of a cover already on another album?)

I'm with Guitar Hack on the Battle of Evermore - it's so tedious, too many words, bad vocals (Robert Plant adopts a bleating, nasal, voice that reminds me of Larry The Lamb - an animated English TV character from the 70s) and there's no discernible rhythm or groove to it.

And yeah, our band played it many times back in the early 80s, and with me being the lead guitarist, I can vouch for the fact that the song is great fun to play, and that it has excellent energy. And that our drummer loved to join me at that glorious ending. But I can also say that it did get old after a while, what with us playing it every Friday night, plus all the FM radio airings, etc. So, I'm sorry to have mentioned it as a least favorite. I like more songs on Presence but the three songs I mentioned are some of Zeppelin's worst. To me, Presence sounds like an afterthought, which technically it was like Coda. So, just because I have an opinion that differs from yours, don't assume you know what I like because you don't. I have my opinion, and you have yours, let's keep it that way, alright?!

@@jimekberg Did you read what I said? I didn't say it was terrible I said it meandered, which it does. I like Four Sticks but some of the panelists don't. That's fine because I happen to think the musicianship is top notch. And if you heard it played by the Egyptian Orchestra during the Page-Plant tour, it's even better. I don't agree with those who chose it but that's their opinion. I don't agree with those who chose Stairway to Heaven and Rock and Roll either because I love those songs. And definitely disagree with the person who chose The Ocean because that's a close second for my favorite song on Houses of the Holy. Led Zeppelin is a great band, my 2nd favorite band, and they have very few crap songs. That's what made this exercise so hard and a fun. Quite frankly I thought people would pick Going to California, but I was shocked that wasn't picked so there's that as well.

@@kimberlywalker3970 Hey, that's cool, your respect of "Trampled Underfoot," which is indeed another example of badass, tight Zeppelin. I bought that on 45rpm in 1975, when I was 9. And you know what the B-side is, I'm sure. That's right, the brilliant "Black Country Woman" I dunno, it's hard for me to understand anyone who loves and appreciates tight, effective rock n roll not liking that song. But hey, that's your choice, and that's fine. I do love it dearly, as I do Custard Pie, IMTOD, Houses Of The Holy, Trampled Underfoot, Ten Years Gone, DBTS, Night Flight, The Wanton Song and Sick Again.
