Centuries ago, ancient China created gunpowders, and used it as fireworks to celebrate festivals, however people in the west use gunpowder for wars. Nowadays, westerners created drones and apply them widely in wars again, but China produce the drones in large scale and apply them widely in commercial activities, using them to celebrate festivals again.😂

Dynastic China used gunpowder based weapons for wars too. But Chinese cannons didn’t improve much due to being a stable empire without serious foreign challengers around it, unlike nation states constantly at wars in the West. Worst, Qing’s founder was literally killed by Ming cannons. Qing subsequently shunt cannons because of it, and later itself to the rest of the world. Now China is fully engaged in the world through OBOR(BRI), innovative weaponry is inevitable, including drones.

Early Chinese cannons developed during the 12th and 13th centuries evolved from earlier gunpowder based weapons like the fire lance. However, those Chinese cannons were mostly ornamental with elaborate dragon and lion's head sculptures designed to scare off invaders with their flashes accompanied by loud startling noise than to kill. Western-style cannons were introduced to China in the 16th century by Jesuit missionaries bringing advanced European artillery technology, including breech-loading and muzzle-loading cannons making them into lethal weapons of war.

It took the USA some 248 years to get to where they are today, while China came out of their self-isolation some 43 years ago to get to where they are today. As I have already mentioned a number of times, a lot of the people in China are already living in futuristic cities & the way of life that Westerners are still imagining & dream about, and it's very obvious that China will become even more technologically advanced in the next 50-100 years.

@@yerri5567 .... China is the oldest continuous ancient civilization and has been a dominant superpower for a very long time until the rise of Western powers with their superior military might. The USA was founded by Europeans/British and other immigrants by colonizing & dominating lands, and continue to do so, which does not belong to them and, hence, their successes were brought about by immigrants from various parts of the world. China has been populated by basically the same people for thousands of years and has a very rich history to draw and to learned from. It was through China's leaders' decision to revolutionize their form of governance and policies that brought about their phenomenal progress and modernization to become what they have become today. Most of the Western world seems to forget or ignore that China was a late starter into the technological world when, some 43 odd years ago, it was a dirt poor economically and militarily weak nation. Their economy was even worse than Mexico. Some 74 years ago in 1950, India adopted a democratic form of governance when China was still deeply communist, dirt poor economically & militarily. By definition of being democratic and all the other policies and stuffs, India should logically have become the China of today, but their political system, much like in the USA and many other democratic nations, is controlled by their super rich & powerful. Just as China has become the leader in solar panels, batteries, and largest manufacturer of EV, there is absolutely no doubt that China will become the leader to dominate the microchips market in the not-too-distant future. As it stands, China is ahead of the USA when it comes to research in 37 out of 44 crucial and emerging technologies, including AI, defense, and key quantum tech areas. China holds 389,571 out of over 520,000 AI patent applications globally. It has gone from fourth place in 2015 to first in 2020 in the global league table for patent registrations. China has the second-highest spending in R&D, which was more than 370 billion in 2020. China is leading the world in four scientific fields in terms of the total number of citations generated by the country's international academic papers published over the past decade. These are materials science, chemistry, engineering technology and computer science, with computer science being added to the list in 2021.

If history is the angle you want to approach at, then you should be saying it took China ~3500 years to get to where they are vs the Wests ~2500 years. Not from the birth of the modern state. And Chinas technological advancement that got to where they are today has a lot to do with IP theft. Lets not forget about that
