Ted is NOT a complex character. He’s a fucking coward. That’s all you need to know. It’s a no brainer to do everything you can to save someone trapped underwater in a car. ANYTHING less than that is COWARDLY. And there is no redemption.
@kingmiura81386 жыл бұрын
It is possible that Teddi was not the driver...he could have left the car after driving down the dirt road away from the cop who had approached the car. Mary Jo could have driven off the bridge and Teddi only found out in the morning when his 2 pals visited him at his lodging. Teddi may have believed that it sounded better to say he was the driver....and the one who dived in to save her...than be the guy who bailed from the car to avoid a cop.....and allowed Mary Jo to drive on alone.

Right - the driver's side window was rolled down - but how could a man TK's size have gotten out? TK said that he didn't "remember" how he got out. But, TK made all those phone calls using his credit card - starting early the next morning.
@kingmiura81386 жыл бұрын
The cop messed Teddi's story up. The cop saw his car when it was supposed to be already be in the water. Never heard any explanation of that fact. Never heard any explanation of Teddi's remarkable physical display that night despite his neck injury. Never heard any explanation of Teddi's demeanor at breakfast with the other guests....Teddi acted as if nothing was wrong until his pals showed up and had a little talk with him - then Teddi seemed concerned about something. Teddi's pals were in a criminal conspiracy with him.

Wow, Jason Clarke defends Kennedy, even though he admits that if Chappaquiddick had happened today there would have been greater consequences and Kennedy's career would be over. This leaves me speechless.
@TheLocalLt5 жыл бұрын
Min Bee basically what he’s saying is that society is a bunch of pansies today who are ready to abandon and shame any politician, celebrity, or athlete who does anything wrong or hurtful. In reality all famous people are sociopathic narcissists, many of whom are total scumbags. This should be your expectation, you should be surprised when an athlete or politician is actually a good person and give them lots of credit, instead of tearing everyone else down. Because the great majority are the scumbags, the famous person who is also a good person is a rare gem

@@instapizzabmx4206 Do you actually know anything about this incident? He wasn't "acquitted of all charges" he pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident causing bodily injury. He only avoided manslaughter charges because of his powerful connections. Accidents do happen, especially when people drink and drive. I doubt he intended for the crash to happen but his actions after the fact cost a woman her life. Also if we can't talk about anyone who has died that pretty much eliminates all of history

I think the sheriff is correct: he left car to avoid being caught with MaryJo when police tried to do spot-check on their parked car. He was “taking her to the ferry” so MaryJo could retire for the night- that was the story, but she had left her purse and hotel key at party, so they were likely having a tryst. Also, he was in a good mood the next morning at hotel he was staying at as he conversed with other tourists- then his 2 mates told him about car off dike bridge and MaryJo in it and he then makes a dozen phone calls to lawyers and advisors. She drove the car off bridge likely, the poor soul.

I have to watch this now and then also read about this so I may comment my opinion later. In a case of what about-ism, I had mentioned Matt Gaetz should be forced to resign and a commentor mentioned Ted Kennedy in rebuttal. I responded with something like "despite Ted's bad choices you are still defending the actions of a child sex trafficker" whether you believe the charges or not ethically speaking Matt should be removed from the Senate. While I will choose not to defend Ted I will say in his case I will still stand that Senators, Judges, and especially Presidents should be barred from service until vetted by a court of law. Justice cannot be guarantee unless the law is represented faithfully throughout its institutions.

The problem with making this a movie about a moment with necessary reflection from which Teddy Kennedy and everyone could move on and concentrate on the "achievable" is that Teddy Kennedy did NOT learn and move on to focus on that, precisely because he was also always concentrating on which women were achievable for his prick--and that of skeezy raping relatives!!! Teddy Kennedy continued to serve for Massachusetts and get the nickname "lion of the Senate," but the reason most liberal women who give him a pass on Chappaquiddick cite as responsible for their approval of him is the support for abortion rights that his Catholicism should have made antithetical if not downright heretical to his beliefs. It seems a rather odd way to create consistency on right to life...or rather, I suppose we should say, right to die disputes, and his judgment was clearly questionable in the personal in ways that certainly did extend into the political and professional. Looking at Trump, many people now see the failures in his personal life as neon signs that speak to how those would translate into effective management and judgments (or lack thereof) in the presidency as an office. We also know now that JFK's own judgment was compromised in several ways, including his womanizing and use of steroids for pain relief in ways contraindicated by physicians who didn't know what he was up to in getting and using high doses along the travelways he followed. Pretending the personal doesn't matter and that the public persona is separate simply doesn't wash anymore--or at least it shouldn't, if we're going to make America great again OR for the first time in the nation's history (take your pick).

If any private citizen had done what he did but failing to report the accident, leave the scene, they would have faced jail. "I'm surprised the blue team is actually being honest for once. The red team had been saying all along that some teams can't be trusted, but you won't hear me say that about the blue team." People who think in such simplistic terms would be blown away by the amount of information partisan media reports on contrary to their assumed interests every single day.
