Sorry but this version is post WW2. The green plastic handles are clearly showing this, also it says "BUND". Post WW2 term for "Bundeswehr". In WW2 it was called "Wehrmacht". "WMF" on the Blade shows the manufacturer (WMF, a common kitchen knife factory in germany). I think the WW2 versions all(?) have wooden grips and a longer blade, less bladeplay ;) & also not made of stainless steel, rather carbon-steel. Nonetheless it`s a rare to find item you have!

Interesting... thought it was basically the same as the original WW2 wood knives in size and steel etc. I found an original in an old car dealership behind a massive steel bench in 1980. No telling how long it was there. It’s been in my tool box since. The Wood version is like a 4” carbon steel blade. And judging by how it sharpens up and holds an edge I would guess it to be 01 tool steel...
