Itihasa has connotations of a timeless history, chronologically written description of important, special and public sector events of the person, society, country, chronological analysis of facts and events. Itihasa means 'This is indeed what happened'. Itihasa came to be applied to the Ramayan, the Mahabharata and the Puranas which are part of our culture and history.

Only practical solution for now is for parents to home-school their children and get them to read our Itihasas, Smritis and Shrutis and ask probing questions when they are still young and supple in mind. But for that parents themselves must first take some initiative to educate themselves on our texts and history. There is no use relying on governments (either the present one or future ones) to take any good initiatives, such as reforming our British-engineered (Macaulay) education. Each ruling govt goes into self-preservation mode and vote-bank appeasement mode and therefore cares very little about matters as important as education reform. Even if this present govt tries to bring meaningful changes to the education curriculum it will face a volley of resistance from our pseudo-secular, pseudo-liberal and leftist mob (which has infiltrated our academia and media). It may take many years (slow gradual shift) before we see meaningful changes to education. If the next generation of our children grow up in our current broken education system they will turn into neo-marxists and nihilists (or worse) by the time they reach adulthood. I am speaking as a former deracinated Hindu who experienced all that and somehow grew out of it through God's grace and self-education. I wish I had learnt Sanskrit when I was young but alas it wasn't meant to be.

Reading translation is futile because it can never convey the 'rasa' 100%. For an Indian to get a grasp of Sanskrit takes much less effort because Indians live the Sanskriti. When I hear an Indian saying that it is difficult to learn Sanskrit, it sounds like a fish saying it is difficult to learn swimming or a bird saying it is difficult to learn flying.

Sanskrit is NOT a tough language to learn. It is just like any other language. If you have not been exposed to it for a while, you will find it difficult. By saying and thinking that Sanskrit is difficult, you are distancing yourself from it subconsciously. For any Indian who speaks at least one Indian language, Sanskrit is 50% easier to learn than English, which is completely foreign. The problem is that English is so pervasive in India, it is taught to kids since LKG and the medium of education is English for more than 16 years. If Sanskrit had been the medium of education, then you would be able to use it just like you use English today.

ITIHASA can be written as ITIHAAS and PURANA can be PURAANso that first of all decolonization of Indian mind set is very important. Today internationally inferior or so called Indian Elites call योग (yog) as Yoga they even do not have the ability to take the pure name of any heritage of their own country. 🙏
@greatbalance
@greatbalance 4 жыл бұрын
Actually, the pure words in Sanskrit are ITIHAASA and PURAANA. The cutting off the end vowel in Hindi is actually the influence of Arabic and Persian. So if you want to decolonize completely, stop saying ITIHAAS, PURAAN and YOG, and start saying ITIHAASA, PURAANA and YOGA. In proper Sanskrit, these words are actually ITIHAASAH, PURAANAM and YOGAH.

There is of course no easy way to talk about the corpus of Ithihas and Puranas in one hour, but I was hoping you would talk about how to understand and how not to understand Puranas..for example, Brahma, Vishnu, and Siva---were they real or just concepts? Hope you will give more such talks

Vishnu Purana is the principle Purana, which is the scripture that claims mortal Krishna 9500 bc, who preached the Sanatan religion, was a natural philosopher, like Socrates. He was very observant and discovered that there is order within cosmic chaos. He found the secret of divine design and formulated his theory that 'Vishnu is the cause of the evolution of the world' and is 'the conjoined essence and object of meditative wisdom and active virtue (karma). The Yadava prospered and multiplied under Krishna and spread all over India, explaining linguistic and religious uniformity. Bengal represents the original Gujrati prakrit.

Few ambiguities: 1.why every historian dates back Ramayan to 500 BCE to 100 BCE,ime they claim valmiki has written it in this time,whereas they claim Mahabharat as 900 BCE,this contradicts the fact that Ramayan happened before Mahabharat. 2.According to historians Vedas were created composed in around 1700 BCE ,Mahabharat in 900 BCE and Ramayan in 500 BCE..it's seems illogocal. I.e vedic era. Out of above facts given by scholars everything can be digested but the fact that Ramayan was composed after Mahabharat can't be digested ,and living of Valmiki in pre-mauryan era can't be digested.

Inside an unused well in the Indian Jungle , there were two lame frogs. They thought that the dark well and the small round blue sky they saw on top was the cosmos. Till one day during unusually heavy rains, the water level of this well came up and both jumped out on to terra firma. Excited they hopped along till they saw two child animals playing football. Immediately one of the frogs cried that the ball was manufactured by his great grandfather and established ownership over it. The hopped along and wherever they went they gave cock and bull croaking stories of how their ancestors literally invented, discovered , built and made everything in the jungle. They were so shrewd and slimy in their approach that very soon even the King lion was made to believe that the deep jungle belonged to these frogs, and lived in psychological subjugation. Blah Blah -- Every fruit tree was planted by our ancestors, every lake was dug by our ancestors ---- Blah Blah - These two frogs are the equivalent of German Friedrich Max Muller, and Englishman Thomas Babington Macaulay. Macaulay under instructions from the Vatican and told Max Muller how to subvert and hijack world history. In one single master stoke he gave the credit of every ancient Indian vedic work in language, Science, Mathematics , Astronomy etc.to the blonde blue eyed Christian white man. The white master race had NOT invented or discovered anything till they came to India, other than what they grabbed from the Arabs which also arab learn from India.As soon the immoral white invader came to India they learnt Sanskrit, stole our intellectual rights patented it in their names and destroyed the originals ( or kept it back after injecting POISON into the originals ). Why should a Master learn the language of a slave ? Bible considers that the cosmos is a few thousand years old. Western historians have been trying to date Rig Veda to 1500 BC ( instead of 5000 BC ) because as per Bible the creation happened in 4004 BC at 9 AM on 23rd October. *Naturally you cannot have a book written before the creation of cosmos , right ?* So they burn all library of world , rewrite world history and prove that before 4004 bc there is nothing happned call it mythology . Bishop Ussher had declared it as the date of creation. The Holy Bible says that the human race began with Adam and Eve. (All nonsense ) Jesus Was never Exist Jesus is fictional character Plz see this video.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4XQi5-ZoMiqg7s And Vatican has been pressurising all and sundry to disprove Vedic literature that stated in 5000 BC in writing, that the cosmos is 15 billion years old and that the mind and consciousness has to be factored in. Well the advent of quantum physics has proved Bible and Max Mueller wrong. Fake history is weapon of white invaders even they hijack all world history to hide there crime over humanity and with fraud history humans blame over each other and quarrel . Non violent and vegetarian Indian has never attacked any other country till now-- and as a result invaders murdered 90 million Hindus. ,Burn priceless Library and distort Vedic civilization These vulgar white invaders robbed us blind in 250 years , converting India from the richest on the planet to the poorest. They stole our knowledge and patented it in their names. WHY DID THEY LEARN OUR LANGUAGE SANSKRIT WHY DID THEY STEAL PART 2 ( BRAHMANAS ) AND PART 3 ( ARANYAKAS ) OF OUR VEDAS ? ( THESE TWO SECTIONS CONTAINED BASIS OF SCIENCE AND MATH ) Now they want to make fun of our poverty and ignorance? Not any more ! These immoral people never expected an Internet age , right ? They thought they could control the media, the historians and peer reviewed magazines and control everything , right? Wrong ! I have not listened to the talks completely, just listened a part. I think, please forgive my language, that Mr. Roy must research a more. It appears that the manner in which he is talking about the upper garment of Ma Sita, he wants to convince it as something like blouse. But that is absolutely incorrect. The actual shlok of VR says: तेषां मध्ये विशालाक्षी कौशेयं कनकप्रभम्। उत्तरीयं वरारोहा शुभान्याभरणानि च।।3.54.2।। The word **उत्तरीयं** uttariyan is translated as "an upper garment worn by either sex and thrown loosely *OVER THE SHOULDERS*". It is something like dupatta. Therefore, read the Sanskrit texts, do not depend on others.

The Budhist version of the Ramayana is just part of propaganda literature. Rama praying to the Budha is artistically and schematically unconvincing. The Budha represents only one part of human life , that is moksha Rama is an aviator whose Dharma is kshatriya Dharma.

With the utmost respect, may i please suggest that such intellectual's qork be preaented by another orator at least? It is extremely jarring to try and stay with the narration (focused) with the stiffest upper-lip vrirish accent and Bengali accent and then no accent that comes and goes. Please do listen to the lecture again, without bias and you woyld see ky point...with such gora saab accent, it just sounds like another white man telling us what, we, our culture and our historical texts are....consider your visually impaired followers. As usual this guy is ignorant of value of the Puranas, which are not only history, but also the history of the theology of Sanatan religion. Vishnu Purana is the principle Purana and records who the Kurus replaced Sanatan with Semitic Hinduism and Vishnu with Semitic god Rama (Ramses) by manipulating Ramayan and Mahabharata, after destroying the Yadava tribe of Krishna. Indian people don't care to remember their glorious past.

@Dr. Er. Pegasus The Veda 4000-1900 bc endorse the theology of Vishnu purana, the three steps of Vishnu enshrined in the Puranas. I think I know why modern Indians are scared of the Puranas, as they expose the 'evil Kurus. (coined in Vishnu Purana), expressed by your fear of the term ;semitic'. The Indians bear the fate of subservience.
