My preference is a phoenix eye/cage grip hybrid..grip. You can re candy your candy cane post most moulding for hardened stability (melt an aditional candy cane, add liquid glucose, bring to simmer, cool and pour over your shank, cool, and reshape as desired). Although this is definitely within the festive spirit, I would argue that the K Bar, (formally made by Whittakers, and likely only available in rural convenience stores across New Zealand) is probably a much more suitable contender for the ideal 'sugar shank'.

Violent night, a ridiculous movie that I loved every second of, has Santa shanking a bunch of dudes with a candy cane. The best people to take that idea and treat it way more seriously than necessary is armchair violence and hard2hurt. The fans need a crossover.

Do you recon it’s better to hold a knife/shive in your dominant (more intuitive) or you “jab” hand. I always play knife fight with my dominant hand. But thinking about it my jab hand would make way more sense because well, it’s my jab hand. I’m good at jabs, they’ve got good range and I often land lots of jabs. My right hand, not so much.
@ArmchairViolence Жыл бұрын
I think it's preference. However, I will say that the vast majority of actual knife attacks I've seen have it in their rear hand. The lead has is often used to catch, parry, and grapple, and the rear hand is used to kill. I think there are reasons to hold it in your lead hand, but I would also say that most people most of the time should probably have it in their rear hand.

Happy New Year Coach! Would love to hear your thoughts on food and diet for training: specifically is the Gracie Diet based off of real science and should be used if you compete in BJJ, or is it just a fad? Thanks again for all your videos! Cheers!
@ArmchairViolence Жыл бұрын
I'm not super familiar with the diet, so I had to look up a bit of information. It would seem that the idea of not eating certain foods at the same time really doesn't affect digestion in any way. And the idea of limiting your acidic foods and prioritizing alkaline ones also doesn't matter. As long as you have healthy kidneys, you're not going to be able to affect your body's PH balance. The only thing alkaline foods could theoretically help with is acid reflux. And that's only in theory. Also, the idea of spacing out your meals by several hours doesn't have any scientific validity, that I know of. I believe there's some evidence for intermittent fasting, but that's essentially the exact opposite of what the Gracie's are teaching. The Gracie diet likely won't have any effect on your digestion or performance. The only thing I can see it being useful for is weight loss. Mainly because the large number of random and pointless rules you have to follow make it difficult to eat. There's no snacking, very spaced out meals, and rules against combining certain foods make meal planning difficult and limited. All of this will probably have the unintended effect of making you eat less overall. However, take everything I say with a grain of salt, because I am far from an expert in this. This is definitely a question that could be answered better by a nutritionist.

I was looking at some you tubers with experience knowledge with knives and using them as a weapon. Especially the Ka-bar . Id.love.to pick ur brain( don't worry not with a pointy candy cane.lol) . I am investigating a murder case where a fixed blade ka-bar knife was used. Here is the scenario.... The killer, A 28/yr old male, enters a house ( its middle of the night) goes into 1 bedroom and kills 2 girls who were in the their early 20s with that knife. Then enters another room down the hall and murders 1 girl and 1 boy both early 20s. He completed this in under 9 minutes! My question is using ur knowledge and experience with ka-bar knives how physically difficult would that be? I always thought killing 1 person with a knife is harder then u think,. physically. But he did 4!!! And 9 min seems almost impossible. Especially if they fought back..and it does appear that 2 of them did fight back...what are ur thoughts??. Do u think someone else was helping? The suspect is very tall and thin. Thank u so much!!
@ArmchairViolence Жыл бұрын
I think I've heard of this case. It's possible. 9 minutes is an incredibly long time in a fight. If you attack someone that's sleeping, you essentially get a couple free hits. Meaning you can make your first couple stabs fatal. 1 minute of fairly continuous stabbing should be more than enough to kill someone, even against someone fighting back. He had 9 minutes, which gives him over 2 minutes per victim. 2 minutes is an incredibly long knife fight. Much longer than average. And that's when people are awake and fighting back! Frankly, a more experienced killer probably could have gotten all 4 of them in 3-4 minutes. For an inexperienced fighter, 9 minutes is actually a long and grueling fight. It wouldn't surprise me if he took a minute to catch his breath between murders. The adrenaline makes you tired very quickly, and there's no way he could have fought continuously for 9 minutes. Especially at the pace of most knife fights. We're used to watching MMA fights with very evenly matched opponents that are pacing themselves for 15-25 minutes. Murders don't happen like that. A murder with a knife is going to take much less time.
@Melsincatuation Жыл бұрын
@ArmchairViolence thank you for ur response...how about the sharpness if the knife...would it be dull after some of that time? Or chances of breaking,?
@ArmchairViolence Жыл бұрын
@@Melsincatuation I'm not an expert on knife making, but I believe it would depend on the quality of the knife and how it was used. I low quality knife constantly being slammed into bone could very get dull quickly. But a high quality knife being used on only soft tissue wouldn't be affected by that attack at all. I would only expect the knife to break if it is a super terrible knife. You can break a knife on purpose, but human are squishy targets and are much softer than steel. If my knife broke while I was stabbing someone, I would be very upset at the knife company. Especially for a knife that's marketed as a combat/survival knife. Ka-Bar knives have a known weak point at the guard, but even that is only a problem when you're using it to pry things.
