I'd like to add something that is working incredibly well for me. If you include "without adjectives" in your writing requests, chat bots will literally strip out all adjectives from their responses. This not only gives you less physical words to edit (Step #2 in the video) but you can then "color" that bland text with the adjectives that make your writing voice yours.
@clashiii3852
@clashiii3852 Жыл бұрын
what do you mean by "color" the bland text with adjectives. Wouldn't that be more work than just copy paste it into Grammarly and Quillbot?
@WifeWantsAWizard
@WifeWantsAWizard Жыл бұрын
@@clashiii3852 Sure. Because AIs are designed to lean heavily on a handful of adjectives and adverbs, you're going to have 800,000 "quickly"s to edit. Text without adjectives is both pithy and a great opportunity to reserve powerful descriptors for areas of your text that need an emotional "pop".

As a freelancer I use Grammarly as my editor to check for anything that I might have missed. When you read your own work your brain can fool you and miss things. Grammarly does a nice job of pointing out small things that I've missed, such as the tense of a word, or forgetting to add a conjunction or adjective. However, as the Grammarly team will tell you themselves, they are SUGGESTIONS and sometimes their suggestions will technically change the meaning of your text. Therefore, do not just quickly click accept on every suggestion to speed things along. Take the time to read each suggestion and ensure that it fits. Based on my experience, the suggestions in red (correctness) are nearly always correct. The suggestions for clarity, engagement, and delivery can be very subjective and you may find they don't fit your message. Just slow down and take time to review each one.

I use Grammarly Premium But I also use Word, one of the things I found most helpful is to listen to the audio. You do this by clicking review and then clicking the big 'A' for audio. It's robotic, but hearing the story helps me to edit things I might have missed.

Hi, I'm an established author and have several books under my belt. About five years ago I began working on another one. A lot has happened in my life in the last five years and I became completely blocked. I came across this video and had no idea what this was, however, I tried it and it's amazing! I use a few paragraphs of my own work, ask it to finish the story in my own voice and it gave me back several paragraphs that sounded like my style. I ran each through a plagiarism checker, several in fact, and they all came back 100% genuine. That's before I did anything to them. I didn't use them in my stories but tweaked, rewrote, and made it work for me. Tip: if you only use a couple sentences, it may not give you the results you want. However, if you use a couple of paragraphs, it'll pick up your tone and the idea of the story and create it for you. It's pretty neat! 😀

One tenant of journalism I learned is… Simple words, Simple Sentences, Simple Paragraphs. Go through each individual word chatgbt puts out and replace each word with a simpler word option. Next simplify each sentence. Lastly, simplify each paragraph. Just doing that alone will make a HUGE difference in making the content both more original and more accessible for the reader.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate this video. Demographic designer but just getting started with KDP and seriously have spent about 6 months at this point just getting to read contracts and know exactly what's legal and what's not legal. I'm playing around with AI but I would never use the words or the images without serious changes. I watched a video of that somebody did that was called you know how to use Ai and publish a book in 60 minutes. She literally put in like "a rabbit goes to the woods" and then AI generated a whole thing. She went to Canva and copy and pasted it. Didn't even read it! Then she went to an image AI thing and said "fox in the woods" or whatever. She took every image that came up and downloaded and pasted it into canva. No one style no nothing. One of the pages was divided into quarters and each of those quarters contained an image that she had created in AI that had a fox in the woods and had nothing to do with each other. When back and created an image that was fox in the woods threw it on the cover asked AI what the title it and that was that. She showed it and it was a horrible nightmare. But she ended her video with you can do that now go publish it and make a million dollars. And of course thousands of comments of thank you very much, thank you very much... She never checked it for plagiarism she didn't check it for anything. But of course it's not on Amazon that she's making her living it's on KZbin. What's the other thing is you can upload whatever you want but it doesn't mean anybody's going to buy it. If you have no five stars and you have three ones and they say doesn't make sense, people actually think that the next person will but it? KDP is really culturally self governed. If four people hate your book, and nobody loves it, are the three five-star ratings I'll use the exact same words, nobody else is going to buy it. Period. Done. But meanwhile all this horrible Ai text and AI generated images that are just awful (6 fingers on one hand) is clutter and noise on KDP for the people who are doing it the right way. I appreciated your video thank you very much. Starting to wonder if too often AI is writing KZbins. As a magazine layout person and graphic designer as well as 24 year adobe user, I cringe! Thanks for not telling everybody it's so simple to become a millionaire.

Disclaimer - since I filmed this video, Originality. Ai updated their tool to now detect content that are just run through quillbot + grammarly so this rewrite method doesn’t work anymore. BUT that wasn’t the point of the video. The point was to never copy paste from chatgpt without rewriting to make the content your own, and quillbot was just one way of doing it. You can still manually rewrite it and do the same thing.

I agree, Sean -- whatever you do as the author with AI, etc., go through and write or re-write the content with your own "voice" -- your own way of saying things, your own examples, etc. That's real work, no question about it. But it's better than trying to take the easy way of having AI write the content and then run into account problems with Amazon.

When I know what should happen but I can't find the inspiration to get the chapter on paper I will show it my previous chapter, then ask to "write the following scene in my style:" and i'll describe what needs to happen and boom. I can move on to the chapter that I AM inspired for. It works like magic to get beyond the scenes you are otherwise stuck on for who knows who long (we all know this can be hours to years) (you can also tell in general lines what you want to happen or where it should move towards and then ask it to write you a bulletpoint outline (and make it more interesting, for example) if you are stuck on HOW to get to the next point) 😊

I remember a writer giving advice that it’s ok to write drunk or high as long as you edit sober. You have to make the text make sense when you’re at your most sensible. I’m thinking at this point writing with AI is probably similar. Generates text may be useful but it should still be considered a rough draft. You still have to make sure you have a quality document at the end. The generated text may look superficially ok like cool looking generated images. But before publishing images you want to take a close look and make sure the person doesn’t have branching fingers or two upper lips. Generated text can produce similar kinds of errors but they may be harder to spot if you’re generating text outside your knowledge area. So special care should be taken.

Yeah, just new to Leonardo AI, and for lack of an idea I said show me NY Giants WR scoring TD. I got a guy running down the field and the ball mysteriously floating next to home, another one he going up for the ball and I swear his left leg is coming directly out his butt! and another just gave me a running football player in a uniform, not NY Giants-like. The last one that I keep was decent, but the defender had 3 legs chasing the guy! Ran out of MidJourney credit. I was lucky because if you got premium ChatGPT you can through joining Leonardo quickly, I was approved the next day. That's pretty when you take into account everybody not wanting to pay MidJourney prices and looking for the best alternative. I got a lot to learn using Leonardo AI, I have to learn how to prompt correctly to get the right picture, which is not easy to do, the two lips you mentioned. I had a little fun I like Leonardo AI

Another problem is that if you do not rewrite the text yourself, you have ZERO legal claim to copyright. AI software cannot own a copyright, but neither can you claim its work as your own. (Heads up: Claiming to have written something you didn't is called "plagiarism," whether a machine wrote it or not, and it's still unethical regardless of what you call it.) And yes, at this point, AI is not a great writer and needs a LOT of help.

Hey, I just wanted to tell u I thought this was one of the better videos for this subject that I've seen. I'm a writer with a massive mental block and usually wouldn't think to use chatgpt. I'd always been able to just put my hands on the keyboard and create a world with almost no effort at all. It was like I just could see into another dimension and all my characters were real people to me, I still feel that way. I had always been sick, in fact I couldn't go to school, thankfully I always loved learning and so I sought out and consumed information. Im autodidactic, self taught on everything, but folks always think I went to college. I dunno if that says more about me or the education system, lol. In my mid 20's I became even more ill, and slipped into a coma. Septic shock. I should NOT have survived medically, and last year I survived my 3rd septic shock coma. Not fun. 2 steps forward, 3 steps back. Anyhow, it's been hard to recapture that ease with which I used to write. I keep trying to find something that will help me find that place where u create like breathing, without must thought, and ease. U never come out of a coma the same way u went into it. U see the world differently, I also had NDEs each time so in some ways I've gained. So I have am 42 now and disabled, I was always a novelist but I've recently wanted to write a workbook on self advocacy for adults and kids. I don't usually wanna use AI for creative writing but since I am always looking for ways to help me with this mental BLOCK ur video caught my attention. It's the first video on the topic that wasn't about avoiding writing that I've seen. I don't wanna avoid it, I wanna get back to it! I would love to be able to make even a little money, as it is my brother is my caregiver and I survive on so little. Disability is about 800 bucks a month and trust me NO ONE disabled wants to be. Welfare isn't a prize. U can't even survive on that without housing aid... I'd be happy if I made nothing on it, if the advocacy workbooks help someone. Especially the one on how to advocate for a child. I know so much about the topic because of my personal experiences. Anyhow, I'll take a look at ur other videos. Writing is my passion, it sucks knowing what u can do but not being able to make it happen. Blessings and Peace

On the other hand, I work with literary resources to give a better meaning or embellish the idea or concept I want to express, for example, hyperbole, simile, personification, hyperbaton, etc etc. What I had not included in my repertoire is Grammarly, I have the free version, but I must upgrade.

@@nicolasdifabulous figure out what makes Human writing distinguishable from AI writing and prompt accountingly. If you need to get past a detector, figure out what parameters it's using to categorize the text as AI vs as a human, and reverse engineer the prompts to give you content that would make the detector think the writing is human. Realistically, i do that AFTER, i got a working draft of the book written. Then, I make it human.

Very happy to find you on youtube. When it comes to writing on ChatGPT, nobody really discusses the "About the Author" page. Should we include such a page in our book? If we do, how should we introduce ourselves? We don't have an educational background directly related to many of the books we plan to publish in the future.

@Serai3 I don't get your where your anger??? is coming from. People get ideas of what they would like a novel to be about. However, they can't write the story for personal reasons that they don't find imperative, to tell. So, they hire a ghost writer to turn the Ideas of each and every chapter into descriptive words/sentences. The same thing Chat gpt does... just for free.

I am a professional editor who has worked both in traditional publishing and freelance. Traditionally, for a fiction novel, you get a little blurb on the back of the book/on the inside back book sleeve about yourself, which should be shorter than the book plot summary blurb. A few SHORT sentences is a good limit for that. For non-fiction, IF your bio is relevant to the subject, work up the same short "back of the book" bio, and another for inside the book as an actual page of text. That should also be short-- no more than about 2/3 of the page. Have a few pro editors look it over to give you feedback (on content, as well as spelling). For your bio, just like your book summary blurb, you want it to be VERY refined and perfected. You need it to be able to SELL yourself, so pay a few humans $40-$50 (USD) each to see how it sounds to human ears.

@@Emma19 Wow, you must be scared of everybody if you thought I was angry. I was just asking the logical question. If a book is "written" by AI, then it isn't written by a PERSON. Thus it's a good idea to tell people that, especially given how utterly crappy AI writing is. I'd be pissed if I bought a book thinking a real person was behind it and all I got was a garbled mess put together by a robot.

Love the content. I did try some of the tricks you suggested and even then, the content is labeled as 100% AI generated. It’s not even list format but paragraph formats. I even went in to rewrite the entire sentence by combining the concepts of sentences together and Originality is still saying it’s AI content. Don’t know if that’s just how good I am or how sensitive the detection is,….. lol
