This is not the hardest modpack tho, maybe stand alone mod could almost pass. Check out GREGTECH NEW HORIZONS, taking about 11000 hours for complete beginners to complete (Estimated, cuz no complete beginners are insane enough to try it.) Experts take around 4000-6000 hours though.

Real talk though as someone that plays modded minecraft. I absolutely HATE IT when people think making the game difficult equates to making it super grindy. It is the worst "mechanic" any game could do, but Minecraft modders in particular. Your pack isn't expert or difficult because I have to spend 5 years just to get to the ender dragon.

In a non-permadeath BTW world, especially one you intended to continue playing in long after you beat all the bosses, you'd probably want to be spending time creating infrastructure and automation throughout. So instead of grinding for resources, you'd make a reasonably-efficient mob farm, then let it run in the background while you design some kind of loot sorting to automatically filter out and melt down metal gear, grind bones, etc. Then rather than baby-sit or AFK at it, you'd move on to other projects like building aesthetically-pleasing structures, or coming up with complex redstone and piston logic to, say, automate tree harvesting or pottery. In that sense, levelling villagers would be a test of your infrastructure, and balanced more to be fun in a casual game, while a speedrun that skips the infrastructure would be stuck doing monotonous grinding as a sequence-break.

i don’t disagree with how you ended the video because the fact that better than wolves goes from super difficult at the beginning with a good amount of grinding to an absolute joke of a difficulty after only level 1 enchanted diamond armor making u invincible with an absurdly boring amount of grinding is crazy to me. also the mechanic of trading skulls with emeralds over and over is so lazy by the devs. anyways this was one of the best mc vids ive watched in a long time.

Seems like almost every modpack shares the balance problem with vanilla. Difference is in vanilla you're either searching for endermen for years or trading for pearls, and it's not too torturous. This mod for some reason looked at that gameplay and said "what if we did that, but just worse?"

@@godlyvex5543 I put together my own 1.19 modpack for my friends based around the End Remastered mod. It was a lot of fun the whole way through! You need 12 unique Eye types to get to the End and the mod has around 16 total. Get them from structures, bosses, crafting, and trading. If you think one Eye type is too grindy, then just go for another. The difficulty can come from other mods, so the progression just has to be interesting. Grinding is not difficult, and it sure as heck isn't interesting! Both BTW and Vanilla fail in that department, but at least Vanilla is relatively painless like you said

The only limit to Minecraft is how much you know about the world, like... if you dont knowed how to make a campfire and get trowed on a florest in real life you would probably die in a day, but if you know how to build your surviving tools, you can make a society out of a scratch. I Know that you are more into fantasy and make thing powerful and things and is understandable, but theres no game better to simulate real life them Minecraft. I think that would be better if the wither skulls were a fix trade for the cleric, but the price be expensive. And the trade be fix to other villagers too, so you could just farm normal itens, them sell for emerad and everntually get the skulls. You could keep do something as sell carrots for hours and them get emeralds to buy the skull.

Honestly the fact when you found out about the mob farming you chose to go straight to the dragon with your current gear, "underprepared" and only having beaten the Wither not long before... it's impressive. And then you beat the dragon long before you probably otherwise would have. To be honest, you are the Better Than Wolves god. They made it difficult, sure. You decided that it wasn't dangerous enough. It wasn't difficult in the way that makes you lose. It was difficult in the way that makes you waste time. You had already won the moment that Wither died. Because it was the last thing that was able to threaten you in any way. You got lower fighting it than you had for a long while. But it failed. And you conquered the mod. Congratulations. All that's left is to take what you know now, and overwhelm MEA with your newfound powers.

*SPOILERS* 3:10:40 I do like your take on the game design aspect of the mod. As an aspiring game designer and developer, you always want to have players engaged in the game. If the player needs to disengaged from the video game and go AFK, then you have fail as a game designer. However, this rule can be broken and you can have players make a farm if... 1. It is not mandatory to make one. 2. It's quick in giving the necessary resources for many crafting recipes. 3. (Extra for your comment on challenge) There is a risk for staying in one place for too long or for being AFK.

I think the last rule only applies when the challenge is mixed up by staying there (either the game involves travelling a lot and setting up a camp is a special location) or the farm activates a challenge around it, like defense style event or world change. Nonetheless this also needs to be just a temporal change of pace, maybe it can be designed as a change of gameplay but I think that can be too disruptive unless you translate previous mechanics to the new context

yeah true, I'd have no problems being able to progress with a manual but less effective way to do villager trades, meaning that mob farms are encouraged. But the fact that manual farming is so annoying to do and some of the trades were really rare drops from weird biome mobs was just odd. i think you have pretty good take on that, nicely put the trade that actually caused me to kill all my villagers out of rage was a jungle spider sack rare drop. Villager wanted 7. I killed about 10 J spiders that day and got none (they're also a dangerous mob at that stage of the game due to poison/hunger debuffs). Keep in mind villager was early on and probably needed around 20ish more trades to start selling ender eyes. I actually just realized it wasn't worth it anymore. i guess i coulda in theory manual farmed but it wasn't worth it and the vid woulda took like another 2 weeks lol

For convenience have a tab open with all vanilla items(shaft is the same as stick) in this version which I'm guessing is 1.5. While mutton and iron nuggets were added in later versions they will be counted as BTW additions since they don't normally exist in this version.

I feel alot of different ways about this video. It’s a great, pleasant watch. Im very proud of the stance this guy took at the end, making the call that he’s done everything worth doing. It was well edited and well paced. The music was often grating and difficult to endure at its worst, but fitting and engaging at best. There is a charm to this guy, but he is also the most insufferable person on earth to hear keep talking for more than twenty minutes at a time. He reminds me of my thirteen year old brother in the worst way. And yet there are moments where i see a dedicated and capable creator, playing up a slightly exaggerated character of an XQC wannabe for a streaming audience. tdl, you should try the terrafirmacraft mod, any particular modpack with it, even a custom one, its just like better than wolves, excluding most of the fantasy aspects, food spoils, torches burn out, you can knap rocks into tools, but most importantly, theres BEER!

i see what the devs mean when they say mob farms are a core aspect of the game HOWEVER the issue i have with this is that the mod is advertised as a difficult experience, not a grindy one its as if sky factory or some other grindy pack made creepers instakill you and made zombies break blocks you cant advertise yourself as one thing and do a complete 180 in application i mean you can... but thats just shitty advertisement and game design its also the fact it straight up doesnt build you up to it good game design would show you that you need these resources to progress so youd start farming them early and slowly upgrade your farms with better stuff as you go. a hard pack that advertises itself as hard should be hard not hard to finish that ending is completely reasonable too.

yeah, although it might be my fault kinda? I went into it as a blind run and it was so stupidly hard. I assumed it was the hardest mod. and it kinda was until diamond armor, BUT i didn't find out I accidentally clickbaited until like a month or two ago when it became grindy. the advertising of the hardest mod was kinda my fault but also others who blindly followed the trend. thats why i wanted to make this vid to expose how it really is after you learn about midgame+. So its kinda my bad, but also some of the people in the community who KNEW it wasn't really that bad and keep egging it on haha

I saw wither fight live, I’ve been waiting for dragon fight stream lol. Guess I just missed it. Clearly didn’t miss much, even on transient server, dragon fight was boring, I died and just sat on the respawn screen until they killed it.
