Inner peace is very expensive; it means moderating desires, emotions, thoughts, and sensations - and then peace will come about.

Nobody wants "peace" as you are describing it. We want to have desires. Without them we are floating in a sensory isolation tank of nothing. But we want desires that we can obtain, that are within the realm of possibility, with some degree of striving.

Martin you are right about hatred, if I hate someone then I can't stop thinking about them and always thinking about how to take revenge from them.

Understanding the cost of inner peace is a complex journey. It takes a lifetime of effort to gain true peace. Thanks for sharing this valuable insight Martin!

I followed the “carnival oh carnage” in Ukraine for 13 month and near all of Martin’s ideas about the nature of humans and live are 100% real!!!

The most hard hitting part is the notion that we can only have empathy to those that remind us of ourselve. Western country are committing or supporting much bigger carnage and crime since a lot longer and are profiting to an incredible degree from it and no one cares and even want them to be the arbitrary of justice. Even though they "stop" that same year their brutal carnage in Afghanistan.

@@constraintautomaton9547 yes that's true unfortunately or fortunately its instinctual in us like any animal to trust and look after the things more similar to ourselves on every level Racism is a word that's been thrown around for quite a few decades as if its a new thing? Its been ever thus since the beginning of time. Every human has closer feelings in general to their own. This plays out from locality to nationality and even so called west vs east

@ciara respect its become politically profitable to throw the word around. History shows no "races" hate each other more then themselves

@@ciararespect4296 xenophobia has existed since time immemorial, however racism was invented in 17th century england, the east vs west was never about race it was about religion (crusades) the romans and greeks had no notion of race for them it would have been absurd to discriminate on the basis of physical attributes. However having said that, the 14th century polymath ibn khaldun did observe races differed in civility and intelligence on the basis of climate so in the extreme cold of the north the slavs and vikings were uncivilised and conversely in the extreme heat of the tropical south of sub saharan africa the inhabitants were equally primitive for him the happy medium lay in north africa/ Mediterranean as well as greece egypt and mesopotamia

So then …. Getting rid of desire …isn’t that actually what the Buddha told his followers? Nothing new I guess, but ofcorse the desire to get rid of desire…is a new desire….haha. Just shrugging the shoulders is probably the best “ zen “ thing to do I guess. In this turmoil of times with extensive input from you tube & electronic devices taking a walk in the forest WITHOUT the continues chattering in the head is the best cure I guess. Agree? 😊

The process of observing desires, emotions, thoughts, and sensations has a name- it’s called meditation.

Everybody already observes these things frequently every day, that's just how the body functions. What does more observing do by itself except for calming you down for a bit, then highlighting the fact that you can't simply use force to control your inner state? Don't mind me, I'm actually curious

you're always wrong about meditation Martin, don't put it down, it's something really beneficial, most people cannot penetrate deep enough into meditation to feel true power of it hence they put it down besides that I'm thankful for your wisdom.
