I agree man. Imo I feel like only people who have been in the business for decades and have 1000s of acres of land can actually make a decent profit even with all the little expenses that add up. Ya know unlike small farmers trying to manage with how gas is rising in price as well as fertilizer and such. Plus daily maintenance and such
@LordGadwin
@LordGadwin 2 жыл бұрын
@@Cosm1cCream And the costs of equipment. A harvester can run you around 500k for a new one, or tractors running around 200k. Here in America the US government is still handing out depression era grants to farmers, but most of that money goes to the super large ones that already have alot. And its a shame how many thousands of milk is just dumped into fields as we over produce milk in large quantities.
@jwhitley101whitleyfarms9
@jwhitley101whitleyfarms9 2 жыл бұрын
We spend 26000k on fertilize, 1500k on fuel per week, 14500k on maintenance and we are just now finishing first cutting. I didn't put feed for cattle or any medication for cattle and that excludes truck fuel that's just operating costs for first cutting on 2000 acres.

Hi Tom, I watch 'Dirt Perfect' here on KZbin, he's been putting in a lot of drainage tile recently. I was wondering if it would pay you to replace the manholes, with new tiling, and put the manholes on the outskirts of the fields instead of in the middle (thus preventing manholes strikes, damaged mower blades etc?). Love watching the channel and super seeing Joanna really enjoying the tractor driving/mowing 🚜👍🏼👏🏼

Hey Tom I have to ask why you mow the outside of the field so early on? I was always taught to leave it until last then if you hit something (outside being the most likely place to hit something) and destroy the bed at least the field is 99% mowed and you don’t need to worry as much
