Albert and Haydee's romance is not convincing. It is unlikely that anyone would have an affair with the son of their father's murderer. In the book, she loves Edmond, and their painful past unites them. The book The Wives by Alexandra Popoff (available for purchase on Amazon) tells the true story of a young woman whose family was a victim of political persecution and who falls in love with a man who spent years in prison for political reasons. "Although separated by a twenty-year age difference, Natalia and Solzhenitsyn had much in common: the gulag and the Second World War, which caused him much suffering and also left deep scars on her childhood." - The Wives by Alexandra Popoff

The Count of Monte Cristo is my favorite book !!! It is because I heard many things about the Count of Monte Cristo since he was a child. So, I decided to buy the book one day and read it all !!! After searching through many bookstores in my city, I found it and it was very difficult because after a couple of hours I realized that it was an out-of-print book. When I bought it, I was reading it on the bus on the way from my house to school and vice versa. I wasn't bored reading it in the least and it got interesting as the book progressed until I have finished it. Definitely, the best book that I've ever read 👍 My favorite parts are when Edmundo finds the treasure on the island of Monte Cristo and when he starts to reward the people who were loyal to him. Also when Monte Cristo reveals to Maximilian Morrel that he helped his father and family in the past. Consequently, Maximilian and his sister hugged Monte Cristo I have always wanted to see a production, whether TV or film, that perfectly expresses what is interpreted in the book. I really liked Jim Caviezel's movie, but it doesn't express the ending well because Monte Cristo stays with Haydee and not Mercedes. As I once heard, Hollywood prefers a happy ending; but that is not the point because there were also flaws in the end of the count's enemies In addition to other things such as the absence of important characters such as Haydee, Maximiliano Morrel and Villefort's daughter Danglars does not end up imprisoned for theft of merchandise as happens in the movie. Danglars was a banker and ends up bankrupt and without family Fernando was never Edmundo's best friend, and Edmundo does not kill him with a sword. The book tells that Fernando commits suicide after losing his wife, his son, and his social prestige. Villefort does not end up imprisoned for the death of his father, but rather he goes crazy due to so many recent emotions and regrets from the past. I have seen the trailer for this movie and it looks incredible because apparently it follows everything related to the book. I say this because characters that I did not see in previous productions such as Haydee and Maximilian, they appear in this trailer and besides the sets and recorded scenes are also impressive. My favorite scene of this trailer was when the Count of Monte Cristo fought several men at the same time. In advance, many congratulations for this enormous production that I'm pretty sure it's going get excited all the fans of the Count of Monte Cristo and make them very happy !!!
@Bro_Coy7 ай бұрын
My two favorite parts of the book was when Edmond in the port riding a boat bid farewell to humanity, kindness and gratitude he said. He continued to say that farewell to all goodness that gladdens the heart. Edmond continued declare that I have taken my place as substitute for Providence in rewarding the good ( addressing to Monsieur Morrell). Now, may the GOD of vengeance yield me His place to punish the wicked. And the other one was when to told Danglars after everything that I forgive you, for I too ,needs to be forgiven.

Watch Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo anime. It's the best adaptation that follows most of the book very closely. Only differences are is it starts about half way through the book from Alberts point of view. The art style takes a little getting use to plus the setting is in the future and has some space parts but still feels like old France. It's not 1 for 1 but it's the most faithful version I enjoy the most. Also, it's the only version I know of that includes pretty much every character and most of their stories. Every other version is missing a significant amount of characters and details that make the book amazing.

The fate of the three enemies in the novel is very exciting, but almost all the movies or TV versions have dramatic changes and are not as interesting as the original work. The cowardly soldier who stole the protagonist's wife eventually lost his wife and son and died by his own gun. The prosecutor who violated the law was destroyed in court and eventually went crazy. The greedy banker who made shady money went completely bankrupt and experienced the pain of living without money. Basically, Dante defeats his enemies in the environment they are most familiar with, allowing them to be destroyed by their own greed. This is the essence of the story.

The original story is actually more about *retribution* than revenge: the dispensing of saving grace as well as bitingly-just punishment, and how complex such an endeavour can be, to the point of unforeseen consequences. Although, beautifully shot and innovative in some aspects, this film adaptation, unfortunately, lack some key elements: . the Morel family arc is desperately missing . although Haydée is at least present in this version, her heart allegiance has been gravely altered . Édouard, and the terrible lessons his fate brings Sadly, fans of the original material will have to _wait_ and _hope_ for a more accurate adaptation. 📖 > 🎞

This one of my favorite stories by the author Alexandre Dumas. The history of this man is so fascinating His mother was a slave, but he become an aristocrat in France, but was always plagued with racism. @bretonneux338915 күн бұрын
You're confusing Dumas the writer with his father (general Dumas). Dumas the writer did face some racism in his early years, but that didn't prevent him to become a star in writing. General Dumas, didn't face racism in his youth, and that didn't prevent him either to become a general in the french armee. It's after he fell out with Napoleon and he was held captive by religious fanatics in Naples, and left his prison wounded for life, his career ended.

Such an amazing movie with beautiful cinematography, great acting and overall plot. This is more than just a movie. It asks you the question of what lengths would you go to seek revenge in order to right the wrongs done by those you trusted? This is the best French movie I've ever seen. Highly recommended 9/10!

Compared to the other version adapted by Hollywood in 2002, this was a really masterpiece movie. Pierre Niney portrayed Alexandre Dumas's The Count of Monte Cristo very beautifully. However, this film focused more on revenge rather than love. Still, I liked it very much.

I think the 2002 version is dreadful and can’t be compared to this version at all

en: I just saw this movie in the cinema, and it's absolutely stunning! It might be my new favorite film! My partner lives in the UK, and I would love for him to see this movie. How can I make this happen? Where will this film be available with English subtitles, as in the trailer here? For exemple, It's mentioned that the subtitles will not be available on Amazon Prime.

No adaptation can exceed my imagination/visualization of the whole story of the book. That are still in my mind. Chapter by chapter. It's like my own world that I truly adore. but I'm really excited to watch this film... Idk when it'll be released on digital tho

Je dois voir ce film! À notre époque, il n'y a pas d'épopée. Bien sûr, c'est une épopée qui vaut la peine d'être vue.

I was reading some unrelated story and suddendly The Count of Monted-Cristo popped into my mind. I decided to search for the story/the movie on Netflix, couldn't find it. A Google search brought me here, unbeknownst to me there was a newly released version of the movie. I read the book when I was a teenager growing up in the Caribbean and I am now in my late 50's and it still remains my favorite story/book of all times. Now, going to look for where I can watch it...

No, he didn't. He changed an insane amount of stuff in the story, starting with the characters' ages (everyone way older than they should be), then going on to new subplots, then the sexuality of Porthos, the ethnicity of Constance, and so on and so forth.
