The Counting House : Beamish Brewery in the '60s & '70s

This is an audio visual documentary produced by the Cork Folklore Project about the experience of working at the Beamish and Crawford Brewery in the 1960s and 70s, using rare images of the brewery taken by the late photojournalist Roy Hammond,which were kindly donated to us by his family.

I wish my Dad could have seen this.. He would be so honored & amazed by the journey his art form has taken, seeing his pics posted on a worldwide 'screen' & viewed by people the world over". We lost him in '96, yet 16 years on, along comes the CNFP who takes a fraction of his work and with it, takes us on a trip down memory lane, bringing him back close to me & reminding me not just of who I came from but also from where.. 'beautiful city, charming & pretty, beautiful city, my home by the Lee' !

Phelim O'Leary's dad had a hand in creating or updating Carling Black Label and we started drinking it sometime in the 1970s(?). Really really strong. Two were enough to knock you back on your heels, lol.

I have a copy of the Cork Echo from 1972 and there was a picture and story about a David Broome?, It says he was the managing director, but you hadn't a single photo of him or him with anyone else, now why is that?

It's a pity what the developers have done,they could have built the events centre sympathetic to the original building, it looks like it's swallowed up inside huge blocks of buildings, horrible 😑
