Arizona and Georgia are both playing silly games with the election process. Georgia state told local election boards they needed to count the total number of ballots cast, stack them in groups of 50 and have 3 election employees agree on the final total count of cast ballots. Then compare to the number of ballots the counting machines reported to have processed. The local boards sued the state and had a judge agree it was too difficult, and they lacked the training needed to count to 50. Also they could take 7 days if the number was more than 750 ballots the needed to total. Georgia and Arizona are both on track for irregularities. I write this on October 18, 2024. Because the core of her coalition is what remains of Biden's supporters. If she threw Biden under the bus and leaned back into her progressive origins ala California Senator and 2020 nomination, she might garner a progressive coalition, but as seen in 2020 that can't even get her to the first nomination race, yet alone the general. Likewise, Joe is salty at being forced out, so if she doesn't defend his record and legacy, he'll go scorched Earth on her as well, and that would guarantee a complete demolition at the polls from infighting. And that's before getting into the wider blowback it would have to the Democrat party that was united behind Biden's agenda. So she's stuck in an unwinnable situation where she needs to defend the guy she ousted because of how weak he was, while at the same time try to present herself as something different for a populace that sees his administration as a complete failure on almost every issue.

@CantusTropus5 күн бұрын
The plan itself wasn't dumb. The French plan was to dig in their best troops on the German-Belgian border while the Maginot Line repelled any direct attacks on France. The plan was ruined when Belgium cancelled their alliance with France and declared neutrality because of France's refusal to act over German remilitarisation of the Rhineland. This meant they couldn't set up the defense as planned.

@Aim54Delta5 күн бұрын
It's probably worse. Several factors are working to change what has been the past 20+ years of polling. Keep in mind, they are polling a few thousand people and then mapping that onto the behavior of the nation. Working class votes have always been difficult for polsters to access and it's gotten even more difficult as most don't have land lines, anymore. Polling methods are likely to oversample people who lean Democrat and who are unlikely to change their votes. The other factor is "fortification" - this has traditionally favored Democrats but following 2020, many states purged their voter rolls and mail-in ballots are not going out nearly to the degree they were and in many cases not to inactive voters. New voter registration is also overwhelmingly favoring the Republicans. It's going to be very, very bad for Democrats this cycle. Personally, I am of the mind this is the end of the Democrat party. Who do they have for the next cycle? They do not have a bench and without a bench they can't gain backing from business interests and without a grass roots support for their party as a whole, they are done. Stereotypical boomer party held onto all the positions of power and never passed down essential skills or roles right up until the very end. There are some grass roots support for some aspects of the Democrat party, but those are all significantly smaller and we'll see them mainly float between green and libertarian parties depending on what issue drives them. The Republicans will probably end up splitting a bit more along constitutionalism vs more theocratic goals of social conservatism - not necessarily oppositional views at all times, but enough to form significant policy differences.

@@Aim54Delta No and yes. Yes to the fact that polls are inaccurate; I've said this on other comments to other videos, but there it was decently known that even back in the 80s and 90s, lots of research-level anyones would make their papers up. After all, it's much easier to keep your funding on the taxpayer dime going, and thus keep your job, if you keep saying you've made breakthroughs with complicated language. It was such an issue Bill Bryson wrote about it in his column in for a forgotten town newspaper in New Hampshire, and it eventually made it into one of his compilation books. If some fairly unknown author can find that info, it's pretty rampant. Project that onto now, where institutions across the board aren't even hiding that they're lying even when called out, and there's no way that, at the very least, the polling is correct. Heck, most pollsters aren't even remotely practiced and learned in statistics, which is a base requirement to produce correct sample sizes and distributions, so if the foundation is made of straw, of course the high-rise placed on top is going to be shaky. No to the fact that the Democratic party is going to end. The current era of Republican politics are not geared towards and actual republic; they're Democrat-lite and have been since Taft. Trump ran as a Republican because the Democrats wouldn't put him on their team; he's stated as such multiple times. Being slightly left of center naturally looks far right when the left is Communists & Bolshevists in sheep's clothing. That's not to mention most of the GOP is full of RINOs clearly working for a more uniform group behind-the-scenes that comprises both red flags and blue flags, and they're the real problem. All that's going to happen is we're going to move the Overton window back to the middle, at best, and then by that point people will be tired of stodgy, austerity-focused leadership that gets results but is boring, and some new upstart with 'energy' will win everyone's hearts, somehow get 90% of the vote like Reagan and Obama did, and we'll be moving back left in no time. The reality is traditionalism, proper traditionalism and not the mainstream-backed trad nonsense that has dudes in Amish suits and women in Little House on the Prairie sun dresses but they still call a third-party take care of all their labor, is what needs to take hold. People say they want homestead, then realize cutting grass with a scythe or owning goats to eat it is hard work as is, and not that fun in reality, and they turn tack because 'it's hard'. Hard is only fun to those who relish the requisite suffering and toil that comes with doing things the 'right' (read: traditional) way, and asking that of most people coming from a time when you can push a button and air-drop enough sand to fill a parking lot for the heck of it in your back yard is a ludicrous task. You have to make that appealing to hundreds of millions of people, and that's a very hard sell against 'yo, we made a new album, Rock Against Republicans Vol 69!' I'm not saying it's good or bad if the Democrat party reshapes or disappears, should it actually happen, just that it's naive to believe one half of the uniparty that's pitted people against their own families just to sportify the nonsense that is politics (i.e. paid lying and pandering) is going to vanish because they picked one dementia horse to race, followed by one that I'm not convinced isn't the first actual cyborg.
@GideonRavenor7124 күн бұрын
The fact that it was even at 'even' for the longest time should have been a sign to anyone keeping on eye on historical polling. Both Hillary and Biden were consistently UP in polls both times, even with narrowing by the end of it, Trump was never up outside of a couple of individual polls. For Kamala to be 'even', is a disaster on its own for the Dems, for Trump to be gaining a lead (especially if you look state to state), its even worse. Because election night turnout skews in favour of him going off of both elections.
