I’d suggest it’s less to do with educational background and more to do with educational institution attended! Privilege, arrogance and ignorance, along with a limited knowledge of what goes on in the real world is rife in the Tory party.
@BigHenFor Жыл бұрын
Sorry, but you're wrong. It's not about education, but the inability to think objectively. It's all about mindset. Even animals think probabilistically, in that they actually gather and use evidence, weigh it as whether it supports what they think is correct or not, and they look for counterconfirming evidence, before they make their mind up. In contrast, Humans with the mindset of Boris Johnson, his administration, and it seems amongs the leadership of the Conservative Party, seem to ride the bucking broncho of their uninformed but solid beliefs, and ignore both establised and existant facts. That comes from their unjustifiable self-belief in their own competence, and a lack of humility, and common sense. They are bought up being told they are the best and the brightest, and enculturrated by their social circle that they are best equipped for leadership. They are hot house flowers, who when taken out of the green house, and hit by the pitiless climate of reality, soon shrivel. But sadly, there are those who are either fooled by them, or wish to weaponise their showy appeal, because that allows them to appeal to those who don't know any better, or who just want to smell their fragrance. Even though the cost of this indulgence is unaffordable. Folly doesn't discriminate. It only infects those with lowered immunity, but when the infected are given power, it can spread powered by ego, entitlement, and resentment, and those who think they can't be fooled. We had a soft coup in this country because it was primed to be misled by people's own beliefs, biases, and ignorance being weaponised. And these easily subvert common sense thinking. The evidence was there that these people were unsuitable to run anything critical. Its been there for years, but the wisdom of the herd is contextual and limited, and largely limited by habit and self-interest. Thatcherism wasn't only a political ideology, it was a social one too. It deliberately created winners and losers, and hoped to entrain people to adopt that mindset, as it rejected any evidence that misfortune doesn't discriminate. That set of beliefs set our country on the path it is now. And its becoming a possibility that it will get worse. Philosophically, it is a rejection of humanism and egalitarianism. And it's probably the last hurrah of a class of people who are out of time and out of place. They do not look to the future or to the masses with optimism, but fear. So the masses must be controlled, corralled, disciplined, and punished if necessary. All to protect a class of people not really prepared for the 21st century. Those who are, are only useful as far as they assist to maintain the status quo. Unexamined beliefs condemn us, as reality doesn't care. Some might see it, but the powerful do not. They're too busy trying to make reality conform to their beliefs. And that condemns us to future suffering as long as we are complicit with that process. You don't need wars for a society to regress. You just need to create the context where it can happen. Where unexamined beliefs run free.
