Horrible thought just occurred to me, this movie is set in LA right? Y'know what other movie was set in LA which stars Fairuza Balk? American History X! She was successfully treated for her belief that she could do black magic SO much (3 Fold Law) that after she's released she winds up joining a local Skinhead gang and shacks up with Edward Norton! To be fair, this is not too long after Sarah survived a suicide attempt and is probably still dealing with depression, but wants to overcome it. When you have depression, it helps to get out of the house and do things that distract you from that depression. That’s how I’ve always seen it.

I remember watching this when I was 12 and my brother who was 22 at the time rented it for me and his girlfriend to watch, nothing but nostalgia everytime I see it and reminds me of the good times! I can't believe they are rebooting basically the original is good on its own. I haven't seen the trailer for the new one yet.

The Craft: the movie that inspired a kinda-weak Lisa-centered Simpsons episode a decade later, a Steve-focused American Dad! episode a few years ago, and a Venture Brothers joke (because of course they'd do that). Interesting symmetry here: Fairuza Balk begins "Return to Oz" in a mental hospital, and ends this movie in another one.

It's funny you should point out us all staring out the window at the rain at the time. In the realm of Useless Trivia, 1996 was part of a three or four year El Nino extravaganza that resulted in some of California's wettest years on record (with the 1997 Pacific Hurricane Season - July into December - being the height of the cycle). Could use rain like that again, now. Without all the power outages, mudslides, flooding, etc., of course. But beggars can't be choosers.

The evil lead (I'm very bad at names) looks exactly like my best friend in high-school. Like, identical. Kinda same brand of crazy aswell. Still friends, she's pretty tamed down now.
