I dig Ivy's response: "The Cramps make tomorrow look like yesterday". Very cool and intelligent. This band can rock, I've just discovered them and holy shit! I feel like the world is breaking wide open for the first time!
@janekatalane56536 жыл бұрын
Richard Martinez, i like your comment. in part because it takes me back to when initially heard them (back in the mid 80's) and felt similar to you upon hearing them, and i'm still a fan as i write this. also, i'm happy you discovered them and it's so nice to read your passion for this band. you have great ears for music. welcome to the (Cramps) 'drug train'...
@richardmartinez50326 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Jane. This is Rock n Roll the way it should be played and performed: Raw, Passionate, Emotional, on the edge and unapologetic. This music is really the most powerful force on the planet and it's no wonder that the powers that be fear it and seek to de-claw, de-fang and otherwise castrate it through their control of the music 'Inustry'.
@janekatalane56536 жыл бұрын
Richard Martinez, aw. you're very welcome. and thanks for such a nice reply back. and what you wrote about the Cramps/rock n roll music, you said it so perfectly. really hit the nail on the head. especially about it being unapologetic. amen to that. that's part of why i've loved the Cramps for as long as i have. they were inspired by (and respected) classic rock n roll, but put their own spin on it and while passionate about the music they made, there was this campy b-movie-esque side to them that made it so much fun. and yet all the while still maintaining their dedication to rock n roll. and as you said, the industry may have feared it and hated it, but i've noticed that a lot of time, great music tends to fall upon deaf ears. some people may never get it, but that's okay, we get it, a lot of people get it and we love The Cramps for it... still so glad you found them. i love that feeling of discovering a band that's new to me. like that, 'where has this band been all my life, they're amazing!' kind of feeling. keep on riding the Cramps drug train, it's quite a trip. pun intended, of course. lol...
@richardmartinez50326 жыл бұрын
ivy's sound presence is HUGE! It comes as no surprise that she mentions Link Wray and the power of his understated simplicity as one of her main influences. The world needs an explosion of live Rock n Roll bands like when The Beatles broke out in 1964 here in The States and spread across The Planet inspiring people to believe that they could do the same! Ah, we'll see, we'll see: - )

French tv mainstream is better than other countries but the journalist didn't understand that Lux talked about surrealism a french form of art. The interview was about Flamejob album where The Cramps wrote something about the taste in the art by Man Ray. She was confortable in tv but they were too clever for mainstream and for big audience. So true what Poison Ivy said about grunge!!

You just dont understand thes situation sause you dont speak french...Absolutely no offense here, In fact, it's a french TV show , but with a lot of "second degree humour", and the man facing them that they show at 5: 31 is Claude lelouch, french movie maker, who made" A man and a woman"...so, at one moment, knowing that Ivy and Lux have a lot os old movies in their private collection, they ask the cramps if they have a lot of Claude Lelouch movies in it....The other thing is that they have earphones for transaltion, and they needed one/two seconds to hear the translation, that give a strange impression to their way of answering.....But i saw the whole interview "live", i can tell you "Nulle part ailleurs" was a great good rock'n roll show, the bands playing always live, facing an audience of loyal fans...Iggy Pop loved a lot this TV show, just type "nulle part ailleurs live"..take a look on this Garbage show, for instance...:kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHy5iqeKe9uFgbssi=flf8YmiRsCdiWo-2

The interviewer is very kind but awkward. The band couldn't be more uncomfortable, and their jokes are totally misunderstood. That's almost surreal.

@Dag Hagall you do understand the concept of some leaving the music industry and work in another field such as medicine, education, or some other field. I cannot believe this concept completely flew over your head. This performance was from the mid 1990's indicating she maybe in in her 50's or 60's by now therefore retirement from performing or working in another field.
