Something felt off about this cover. Not sure what it is. Almost like it lacks the grit and feels to smooth. I like the Bad Wolves cover a lot better than this one but that is just my opinion. Its a serious tragic but incredibly gifted song by Dolores as a young woman used to the state of her country trying to speak the truth in her music in her very unique style. I grew up through the tail end of The Troubles and I still remember what a profound effect this song had on the zeitgeist in Britain and Ireland. I think its fair to say its an essential thread in the shared cultural fabric of both countries.

While I always felt strongly for the important message in the song, I never really liked it a ton for it's musical quality. That's okay, we all have different tastes. Nonethless, it still is a very important song culturally and in musical history as well.

I missed the release of this. Finally I have time to sit down and watch it. This seems incredibly difficult to do, with the vocal tricks that I would call 'hammer-ons' in guitar, where Delores would cut off the air a lot, or cut it off and go up a few notes, like a Jodel. While I didn't like this in the original, it is very distinct and iconic for this song. I think Annalise does pull it off, as she is very technically skilled, I just love her voice more in other songs. She just has that very smooth, rich sound from the mid to high notes, which she can also pull into a more 'rock' sounding belt if needed and both those things are harder to find in this song. Sorry for overanalyzing this and being a bit critical, I had to partially explain to myself what it was that I didn't like about it. The performance and intent is certainly there as always. This was a brave choice and I think you guys succesfully pulled it off. I did enjoy it, but I know for sure many will love it a lot more that are a fan of the song. Thanks for uploading and keeping me sharp by doing so many different things all the time!

Iconic song, and Dolores O'Riordan's voice was legendary. Covering it is risky, but you knocked it out of the park. And to the naysayers, there's only been one Dolores O'Riordan, and I expect it will be a long time before we see another. That doesn't mean you can't do it your way.

Dolores did some weird things with her voice that worked. More a folk singer that ended up in a rock band than anything, I think she had a unique style that stood out because of that. Maybe this is not so much about doing Dolores O'Riordan justice, but more trying a pretty hard song and seeing if it sticks. In a way they succeeded and it tries very hard to mimic the original song, while incidently falling a bit in the middle between the original and a unique IMY2 version. I think this a little better, you still get the IMY2 feel, but also do the original justice.

Wow, Delores's signature yodel is a difficult act to cover. Great tribute to this very unique voice. Its interesting to hear the piece sung in an American accent. While it's easy to be enchanted by Delores' voice to the point that you lose track of the vocals, hearing it in a different accent forces me to listen to the lyrics in a fresh light and appreciate them in a different way. Bravo.
